The Master Bus Issues (Or my Issues)

Greetings, Seems to be my day for unsure things while mixing, I did the upgrade X1c, and all is well except, I'm a bit clueless as to the master buss. Question: if I hit the mute button on the master bus, shouldn't all sound go away? when I hit the master bus mute, nothing happens, and truth is, I never hit the master bus mute button before so I'm not really sure if it ever worked or not, I'm just wondering if I have some routing issues to fix. Thanks M/C

Probably you have a track/or bus that is assigned directly to the soundcard.

Common mistake (at least by me).

Bapu's got it or perhaps another buss routed to an output? I have a couple of cue mixes going via their own busses to separate outs and quite often wonder where the music is coming from when I mute the main buss..................

Then realise it's from the headphones hanging by the headphone amp.

FX busses are the culprit sometimes. There is a way to set those busses in the Cakewalk registry to mute with the rest of the tracks but I can't remember what it was. I have encountered that problem on some older projects. I simply muted the busses and worked. Just in a hurry to fix whatever issue and never got around to tweaking it. I don't know if an update fixed the problem or not but I haven't experienced it in a while now.

As in another post, this is a good reason to route all your channels and sub buses directly to your master bus (output).   Volume, mute, it is all under control then.

All your busses should be routed to your master bus. Im sure your are not, if your hearing sound when muting the master bus.

Tracks go to buses or the master bus > Buses go to the master bus > Master bus goes to Main outs.
