The Next Big Thing
(c) 2018 The Forum Monkeys

Verse 1
We never pretended to be anything
What we represented was really nothing

Pre Chorus
We were young and bold
Never thought of getting old
It was bound to be
As probable as you and me

Chorus
Never gonna be The Next Big Thing
Never had a shot at the big brass ring
But we can play and we can sing
Never gonna be The Next Big Thing

Solo

Verse 2
Smoke and mirrors is what we employ
We do it for fun, not to annoy

Repeat Pre Chorus
Repeat Chorus x 2

Verse 3
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride
But never the types to run and hide
But we can play and we can sing
You never know, we could be The Next Big Thing

Repeat Pre Chorus
Repeat Chorus x 2
Finale Solo

The Next Big Thing

I enjoyed it and what's not to like about the theme and lyrics??? I dig the vocals particularly and/but found it harder to hear them in the chorus. During the verses, no prob. Cool adds for the bgvs, good choices there.

    It's catchy, too.

Like the tune. Like the musicianship. Didn't care for the mix. I'd like to rip all the EQ out of it and let everything breathe. Everything sounds so tiny and constricted to me. But it's a good song, and that's the most important thing. You'll never satisfy everybody on the mix.

Sorry I'm late.  This is a terrific song, the kind that plays in your head after it's over.  The writing and performances are top notch!  Maybe, it's just me after a long day, but it seems to have a lot of treble overall.  Otherwise, brilliant.  It sounds like it could be the story of any number of people I know :)

    All the best,
