The Nights Are Long Without You

I posted this song some time back. Since than I've learned that I was doing some things the wrong way in the mix. Reverb, being one of them. My wife likes the new mix, as do I. I believe every thing sounds good, but I'm not sure that I fit the drums in at the best level. My wife likes the drums at that the new level. I'm just not sure.

Please let me know what you think

P.S. Lately my computer will crash when I open a project. I'm using X1 and Vista. did any one have this same problem?

Hey Terry, the link is slightly broken (CW forum problem, not the site - there are extraneous html tags in the link url - hover over it and you will see). Terry there is something really weird going on with the song. It sound like a tape that has been stretched with odd pitch variations in both vocals and music. I have never heard pitch problems with your vocals before, so needless to say, this caught me off guard. Mix is a bit narrow for my tastes. It seems mostly centered with little happening on the edges.

Way too much compression pumping. Sorry could not listen to any more than 30 secs. Will come back later when it's fixed.

Definitely some major compression pumping going on. Kind of makes my eyes water.

And I also agree with foxwolfen about the vocal pitch issues. It sounds out of tune at times, but listening to the other tracks on your page it's clear that you have good vocal pitch, so not sure what's going on there!

Terry, I had a problem with your link, so I copied it here: http://www.soundclick.com...amp;q=hi&newref=1.

This song has a lot of nice things going for it.  All the elements are easy to hear, and your vocal and piano playing are up to your usual standards.  My only nit, which is minor, is the sound of the strings.  I have an old Korg that sounds very much like the strings I hear in this.  If you're happy with these strings, fine, but if not then there are a lot of improved samples in the latest Dimension Pro (or elsewhere).  Good to hear from you again.

    All the best,
    Lynn
