I compose most of my music using the Staff View and the mouse. To say the least, it's clumsy and certainly not "workflow" friendly. The ability to add a flat, sharp or natural to a note should not involve clicking a note, then clicking the appropriate window, typing in the note name you want and then closing the window. How about Ctrl-Click to raise a note a half step, Alt-Click to lower it... or something on those lines?
I have problems with notes on ledger lines where they start to come within the influence of the staff below or above. It's difficult to get the focus on those notes to open their property view. I often will end up selecting them, transposing them and then opening the property window. (And too many times I've ended up adding an accidental note to that staff below or above when I've been trying to select a super low or high note!)
Maybe a control to spread the staves, allowing more room between them?
I'd like to see a few more staff options other than Treble, Bass, Bass and Treble, etc. It'd be nice, for example, to have a treble staff that went 8va in the other direction, bringing some of those ledger line high notes down into the staff.
It would be nice if there was an option concerning the copying and pasting of "rests on beat one". Currently, the first thing that's copied in a phrase is a note - leading rests are ignored. When you go to paste, you have to make sure to paste starting on beat two (or whatever...). It's not a big deal, it can be worked around, but, again, it's a matter of efficient workflow.
For a while, staff names and numbers were iffy, with the wrong numbers appearing at the left of the screen. I think that's been corrected. However, it would be nice if there were a way to ALWAYS know what staff you were working on. If you pause playback, the staff names aren't always visible - or not completely visible.
When changing the Layout... I always end up looking under View and not Edit. I can understand that... but it's really counter intuitive for me.
I'm sure there's lots more.
