Dear Greg, it seems like only yesterday that we "talked" through Compuserve to sort out issues - yes, you were giving me support ! That was back in the early 90's ... and we all had a vision that someday we would have a "complete studio in a (PC) box" :) Thank you for all your efforts throughout the years in creating a product that I've used constantly. Good luck in any new venture that you may pursue. You will be remembered !

Thanks Greg for all that you've done. I still remember the e-mail I got from you when I had problems with my ordering of Sonar 6. I was very surprised that you took a personal involvement to resolve the issue and it's one of the reasons I've stuck with Cakewalk all these years (started with Cakewalk 3.1 for Windows). Best of luck in your future endevours! Cheers, jayson

I bought Cakewalk for DOS V2.0E (I think) in 1987. I was visiting friends in Toronto and bought Cakewalk and a Roland MPC (ish) from a place off Yonge Street some way north of the Eaton centre. I brought it back to the UK and no-one (dealers, studios etc.) had ever heard of it. I was a happy bunny though and upgraded to Cakewalk pro 4.0 with a SMPTE soundcard (Musicquest?) and the Romeo Cakewalk series (which is the disk in my avatar). I actually spoke with Greg a few times from the UK, sorting out the odd problem and shipping details etc. How things have changed since then and what an impact he has made on my music. There are not enough thanks I can give other than to say I'm still using and upgrading Cakewalk software! Well done Greg, I'm so glad your kitchen table grew into the respected company you founded. My best wishes for your future ventures.

I am reminded of when Leo Fender sold the Fender Music Company to CBS. We all thought that that would be the end, but they continued on to make some great instruments. But we also got G&L out of the ashes of the Phoenix. I wonder what Greg will do with his spare time? What ever you do Greg, thank you for what you started, and for a great vision.

My roomate from college gave me a hacked version of Cakewalk 3.0 after I was lucky enough to get a job scoring a TV Doc. I needed a sequencer that would work with Sympte TC. I've made a pretty good living that started off with that disc. I've since gone legit and promise to purchase every update that I am able... Thanks Greg, good luck... I did not mean to steal from you. I've more than made up for it.

I, too, was one of Cakewalk's early customers (Cakewalk for DOS 1.0), doing my little bit to help launch Greg's new enterprise. And now here he is being put out to pasture. Makes me feel old. Thanks for everything, Greg. Without you we'd all be running Cubase. And good luck in your next phase, whatever that may be.

Greg, You are one of the reasons I have stuck with cakewalk since the DOS days. You once answered a question for me on the Compuserve forum regarding the Windows api and a midi prepare buffer function. I hate to see you go.

Greg, because of you we have our favorite DAW software in Sonar and other Cakewalk software and instruments. We wouldn't be enjoying or inspired as we are now if it weren't for your innovations, contributions and commitment to your product line. So Thank You for making Cakewalk all possible and choosing a name other than Opus. May you reach your goals and aspirations in your next chapter in life. All of us here are committed to helping what you found, around for another 25 years or more or until we retire.

Being a software/hardware developer myself, I want to say to Greg, how much I truly appreciate his talents. With his persistence and perseverance, Cakewalk and Sonar have become a favorite DAW for many. I have grown musically with cake, I have become inspired to keep pushing the boundries of musical compositition because of Greg`s work. I hope he continues sharing his journey. He has many fans, as I am 1 since 1988. DOS ver 1. For those like me, who have spent 20 years living inside cakewalk`s tools, it`s a bit emotional. All of my best works musically, were done with cakewalk. Greg`s legacy, will live on. From the small home town Watertown, MA. to the dusty roads of Kansas, may the waves of your universe, play in perfect harmony, good luck in your next phase of life.
