    Wow, I hadn't heard of him before and he does it really well. Alan Holdsworth was actually doing this tapping technique before EVH (early 70's), but his style was more jazz oriented and didn't get the publicity/flare that EVH got.

    Zappa was tapping in the early 70's before VH, listen to the end of the solo in Inca Roads where he does a kind of tapping bagpipe effect.
