Whoa!!  Nice tune!!  Very Don Fagan-ish.  (That's a compliment.. )  I like the openness and the stereo brass a lot.  The mix seems just right to me.
    Good work!!

    Cheers!

    VERY toe-tappy indeedy.

I like the horns fading into the chords - nice dynamic touch a la FM.

Thank you kindly for posting this tune.

very strong in how your lyrical cadence fits atop the music. As in, the last word of "Party's winding down" actually hits us on the one. Very cool! And the jazz touches all over are pretty spot on.

I'd just say if your vocal was a hair hotter in the mix (just a hair) it might suit better. But that is indeed a nit.

    thanks, very high quality stuff!

    cheers,

Nice work.   Mix, performance, et. al., are really well done.   Big fan of Donald Fagan and Steely Dan and this definitely reminds me a lot of their style.

Massively cool tune, performance, and project. Yeah, its Steely Dan all over the place, and I'm talking about the band, not the metallic fictional dildo. It really sounds a lot like late, swinging-funk Gaucho Dan, with punchy, percussive horns and a great groove. Think Babylon Sisters. Great bridge and I love the detailed arrangement.

    Real good stuff.

    Cheers,

Superb for a Sunday! Fagan and Becker as reflected in the sunglasses of Allen Tousaint's who perhaps was thinking what Lowell George or Mose Allison would've sounded like if they had had the good fortune to be born in "Naw Lins"
All is excellent but the horns are truly the icing on that cakewalk! (it slipped past me, really LOL)
Time to "tour the southland in a traveling minstrel show"? Thank you kindly for that bit of delight!

Thanks again fellers! I've got several tracks that only await vocals and I'm forcing myself to go ahead and finish them. This one actually started with those horns...just goofing with the swells. But Bill got it right in one of his critiques...the snare sound is the key component.

    Oh yes.
This is my favorite indie song of the year so far.
Lyrics are great ("it's gettin' late, time to skate, the party's windin' down"...love that!)
Bridge is perfect.  Mix is spot on, clean as a dog's hind tooth.
    Great work 'olpal!
