The Platinum Plunge and the Extra X-Fade Clip

Well, I finally decided to go with Platinum Producer - I've purchased every X# upgrade but never got on board as it was so different from 8.5.  I'm 3 weeks in to it and slowly getting up to speed thanks to all the videos and this forum, but 1 thing has me buggered.
 
When I blend 2 clips together and they are cross-faded, then decide to try a different cross-fade point by moving clip A away from clip B, the cross-faded part of clip B comes along for the ride - this is really annoying.  It used to happen every so often in 8.5 and I never could figure why.  I just figured I inadvertently turned on some fancy (worthless) feature....
 
Any thoughts or suggestions on this 'feature' would be greatly appreciated.

    Sorry, but I don't know of any way around this. Once a fade is added to a clip, it stays with the clip.

    Thank you for the quick reply sir :)  It's not the fade on clip A that bothers me, it's that clip A now had the cross-faded part of clip B attached to it as a new clip the length of the cross fade.   I must not be describing the issue clearly as the result I am getting would not be a welcome attribute of any DAW software.  Let me try again.
     
    It's as if clip B's cross fade section was split away from clip B and moves along with clip A.  So now I have a clip A, clip B and a little slice attached to clip A that I would call clip C which is the length of the cross-fade.
    I think what's happening somehow is that clip B is getting split unintentionally at the overlap point.

    Ah, I see. Actually you are experiencing a really cool addition, which is if you select part of a clip and drag it, you can "tear it off" from its parent clip. But to avoid what you're experiencing, when moving a clip, make sure you a) don't drag select across it first, and b) drag from part of the clip handle that's not contained within the crossfade.
