The Proclaimers cover
Aight, I've been lurking around here for years and posting periodically but realized that I've never posted songs on my own. Mostly I haven't been able too because of what I do is made with others, for others or some other reason (that it sux mostly) but for the past few yeasr now I haven't even made much music for my self. I'm back to doing that now so I'll post some more BUT I was tidying up a little in my mp3s and came across this one, a cover I did a few years ago. And I've been contemplating making a Soundcloud account for a while so I thought that this is a good time to do it. Only a very few people have heard this so far and since proclaimers rock I'd like to show this to the world. I made this with Sonar 7 (or Sonar 6, I don't really remember) on a Dell lap top, amplitube, the original drum kit from hell samples - somewhat modified, an EMU 1616m and some dodgy guitars and a Tobias bass. Vocals recorded with the Røde NT1-a. Everything is played by me Hope you'll enjoy it! http://soundcloud.com/mariush-2/6000-miles-cd-mastered-alle

That was fun. Did I hear a little bit of ukulele in there? Whatever it was, it was a nice contrast to the rest of the song. I'll have to get motivated and post something, too. Thanks.

I'm glad you think it's fun. That's what it's supposed to be Yes, there's a Ukulele there. A Tennesee soprano Ukulele in fact. It's pretty cool. Posting songs is scary. But I can't wait to post something original.

Not my favorite genre. That having been said I might be playing with a band like that. Guess I'll learn to like it! LOL. I'm glad you're posting and the music is good. I think it's the screaming part that sets me off. That aside, you do a really great job and when it's not scream it's neat. Actually the more I listen to it the more I like it. You know, I officially like it.

The screaming probably is to an aquired taste, but It's metal all the way!

We went to see a friend in Sacred Reich one night. The first warm up band had a gal singer. Loud but great! The second warm up band came up and we were a few people back from the stage. My ears were blown out in the late 60s from biug bass amps on stage. Not too much is too loud for me. These guys started up and a wave of sound pushed me back about 10 feet. When he sang (screamed) it vibrated my ear drums. I like everything live and heard their set but had no ears left to hear Wylie. LOL! The only louder thing I've ever heard, and I've been to a lot of concerts, was Rob Zombie. The biggest wall of sound EVER! I love feeling the percussion and bass moving my stomach. I don't know why I said all this. What's the Muppet thing? Is that where they say something and end up on the other side of the coin? I think that's what I did. LOL!

He he, yeah, these guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14njUwJUg1I They crack me up everytime! It's interesting how metal musicians always try to push the boundaries of sound. That's one of the reasons I've always liked the genre I suppose. I've never seen Rob Zombie, but I'm pretty sure the sound they produce is intense! Loudest I've seen I think, was Red Harvest. They had an overload of subs in the venue. It was massive! I like it loud in conserts, especially when playing my self, but I'm carefull and use protection.... ear protection that is. I have the ones fited to my ears and I replace them every 4-or 5 years. They protect my ears but doesn't remove the fun;)

Metal-punk ... not my cup, etc. ... but well performed. Things ease slightly at 1:00ish Ah tha 1:45 break ... I think I feel a better transition. Demons come in better in Brit-fashion during the second half and the words gain credibility or something ... making the vocs more pop than demon. Anyway, I'm fairly certain this is top-shelf, fun, and outlandish for the Brit-youngsters. Personally, the thing I like the most are the non-intimidating pop-lyrics (those I understand). MGH knows this genre, how to contrast demons and angels, etc. to make epic black-metal ballads (which I've 'learned to love'). I'd seriously solicit his comments, fwiw.

Whoa! Didn't know so many would comment on this! Phillip - Thanks for the comment and analysis. Alkie - Very glad I managed to surprise you. That's what music should be, a little surprising Glad you enjoyed it. SteveStrummer - Thanks for that. The guitars turned out surprisingly good considering that they were only processed through Amplitube. I usually prefer to have a speaker in there somewhere and re-amp a lot if I can. But this one worked out ok. I'm glad you liked it.

Not enough distortion on that Uke IMO... Actually..what a great, creative move!! Those bvg's blew me away as well..you had a great blend/twist added to the metal with this.

That intro definitely didn't prepare me for the song! lol I only listen to this genre when working with my son. But as far as I know, this is a good job. :-)

lhansen - I did try distortion on the Ukulele, but it was much better without it. Thanks for your kind comment Janet - He he, if the intro gives away the song then it's not a good intro... Well, that could be a cool thing to say at least;) Thanks for your comment, Janet!
