The Pugtones Christmas tune, Mary Christmas, Verry Well.
I've post this before. I wrote the music and Warren wrote the lyrics to thiw tune a few years ago. Warren and his wife Ruth both do vocals on this - Rich Arizmendi played sax. Merry Christmas

I love this forum. You get to hear a lot of different things you would not normally hear. The best part is that people go through a lot of effort to make the best music they can. Very well done!

Love the ethnic drums. And the sentiment of expressing a Merry Christmas to the ones no longer here. Loved all the performances. Wow rich can blow that sax with heart. Came close to losing my composure during Ruth's dialog. Wonderful thanks for sharing.

I don't think I have heard this before. Very nice tune. Well done. Usually the sounds of the background would be a distraction however, it was very appropriate in this song..... kids voices..... brilliant!

Wow this was original! Really nice job here Mark. agree with Herb on the background stuff...normally that would annoy me, but it worked perfectly in this and didn't bother me at all. It actually just made me purchase a "world" sample package of instruments like this! LOL!!! Very "worldly" sounding and that lead guitar as well as the tone......just stellar brother. I so love mildly dirty tones like that...sax was a brilliant touch...this whole thing was just great from start to finish for me. Was that sax real? If it wasn't...incredible sample...if it was real....incredible print! :) Thanks so much for sharing this....loved it! -Danny

Well done and very sentimental. I kept waiting for the black African group to start singing. I hear other Chirstmas tunes within this as well. Neat arrangment. Daryl

Robert(GP)- Thanks for listening, buddy, and for the thoughtful comments. Grant- Thanks for the listen and for the kind words. It's wierd how this song happened. I thought Mark's Mom had passed and wrote the lyrics to honor her and my Mother. I found out later that Mark's Mom was just far away but alive, he's a lucky guy. Anyway Ruth's narration does get me emotional when I listen. That's a great compliment, Grant. Thank you! Oh, we are lucky to have Rich (Psalmist35) perform on some of our tunes. He sang the only song I ever wrote with a specific singer in mind. "Into The Son". He knocked it out of the park. Herb- Mark's music was inspiring on this tune. It was easy to write lyrics and come up with a melody line. I wonder how he fit all those kids in his home studio. He won't tell me. Christmas magic, I guess. :-)

Rimshot- Thanks for listening and commenting. Merry Christmas to you and yours! Danny- Many thanks for the kind words. The sax is played live by Rich Arizmendi (Psalmist35). He's played on a number of our songs and really adds a nice flavor. Mark does have a dirty guitar sound. I though it was because he has a dirty mind. Over the years I've found out that he is just a great guy (no dirty mind) who just happens to play dirty guitar. LOL Thanks, again.

I like the vibe with the roto toms, and other percussion. The whole thing has an island vibe and is nicely done. It's the most wonderful time of the year.

LOL Thanks, again. Oh wow, so you and your wife were a part of this as well as Psalmist? Wow...sorry about that...I don't know many people by name on here. Now it all makes sense. I know you're a seasoned pro and highly respected on here. Nice tohear some of your work. Yeah I dug Ruth's message as well. That must have been an incredible, yet shocking feeling when you found out Mark's mom was still alive. I've been in a few situations like that where I was all bent about someone's passing only to find out they were still with us. It makes you just thank God 100 times and ya feel great that it's not true. Sorry to hear about your mother....I know the feeling. Lost mine in 2007 and have never been the same since. Yeah that sax part was just perfect...as well as everything else. LOL @ dirty mind...c'mon, we're guys...there's always gonna be a bit of a dirty mind somewhere anyway, right? The day our minds are clean (no pun intended CLEAN lol) is the day we're outta this world. :) That tone was to die for...just enough dirt with a super warm texture. But seriously...really enjoyed this and thought it was one of the more original and well thought out pieces I've heard....especially for a Christmas tune. Awesome guys...well done all across the board. :) -Danny

That's definitely a different one, with a combination of elements you wouldn't normally hear. It has a bit of a Graceland type of vibe to it.

Wow, this is excellent! Loved everything here, those panned guitars with the dry drums work really well to set things up, loads for space for the little details to appear. Beautiful guitar solo and wonderful vocals.

Robby- Thanks, buddy! droddey- It's definitely different, huh? Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment! James- Thanks! When I first heard the music I just didn't know what the heck I could do with it. I was going to add bass, blah, blah, blah. I listened a bunch, day after day and then realized that it just needed vocals and went from there. Mark pushes me beyond my normal boundries. Thanks, again. Steve- Thanks for listening. Also, thanks for your help last week!

Frank- I messed this reply thing up. Skipped some folks. Sorry. Your comment was short and sweet. I loved it! Merry Christmas to you, too. Tap- Thanks a bunch! Kev- I really appreciate your comments, as always. Scotty- Thanks, buddy. hey, Sunday night I saw John McEuen in concert with his sons. I didn't know he was the founding member of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band! One of the Judges gave tickets to Ruth. WOW!!! They were absolutely phenomenal. I'm sure you know who he is. He's the guy that's almost as good as you. :-) Daryl- Thanks for your comments. I did start going a bit "African after the c horus. I had listened to a InJenNeh tune a couple days before and had that song in my mind. I thought I'd try a bit of their style and did, well, ok I guess.

Danny- (2nd post) I know what you mean about keeping the names straight. Between board name and real name it gets confusing sometimes. Mark and I have been writing together for about 3 years now. His style is so different from my solo stuff that it is a good mix. We've written 20 some songs together. He is a great guy and it has been fun to say the least. Thanks for the really nice words.

Great work mark. Liked the restrained percussion that gave it an intimate, by the fire sort of vibe. The panned guitars sounded nice. Excellent vocals as always from Warren and Ruth's contribution is nice too. The mix sounds crystal clear on my speakers. Nice on.
