Hi, Not to suggest that you guys have no taste ... but really, c'mon ... this stuff is so over-rated, and is considered good, simply because in London (or NY), you can sell 100k copies much easier than you can in Montana, ir in Dublin, or in Swannee, in the Tropical Islands. For crying out loud, if I do that here in Portland, or you for that matter, no one would show up and everyone on this board, called "Coffee House" would appreciate the fact that we got on the stage, say ... gooo man ... and then on the back breath you would be laughing at that high school quality musicianship! I have no issues with rebelion, or punks, or seattle grundge ... but I do when it is just a record company, and not a musical talent. You guys, that call yourselfves "Coffee House Band" are much more talented, than the Ramones ever will, who became an image of themselves ... a hilarious fame shot, Andy Warhol like ... of something that had nothing behind it! But fame was a good reason to become more important? ... sorry ... the CHB is much more important to me!
As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

I don't think you'll find many people praising The Ramones for their amazing musical skills and for their depth. I mean, just read the song titles. You know, I come from a very small city - 11 000. Frank Zappa would have had to get a real job down there, he couldn't have made a living w/ his music (not to mention that the folks would probably have beaten him silly if he dared dress the way he did.) I dig them.

Moshkiae Hi, Montana, ir in Dublin, or in Swannee, in the Tropical Islands. Hi, These are the hotbed music markets? Shows you what I know.

craigb What, "I don't want to be buried in a pet semetary" and "Beat on the brat with a baseball bat" aren't intellectual lyrics??? Well! You know, I used to be one of those uptight literature students, a true purist. And what a prick I was. lol But even back then, I never worried much about lyrics, especially in pop music. The Ramones had the advantage of being funny. 90% of the times I'd much rather listen to the Misfits singing "I turned into a martian" or the Ramones singing "Now I wanna sniff some glue" than to some pretentious bs. Most of the so-called "serious" lyrics out there come across as pathetic attempts at cleverness, anyway. I'll take Zappa's Jazz Discharge Party Hats any time before these. ;)

Heh, I rarely knew what the lyrics were for the songs I liked. I was always a music first type of person except that I tended to accept the vocals as another instrument and rarely listened to any message they were trying to convey. Of course, most of the psychedelic songs had such twisted lyrics that they probably only made sense on acid anyway! LOL!

Beat on the brat with a baseball bat. Certainly struggle music from a place where few know.
