Great stuff Gonzo, really interesting, playful instrumental, love it. Got a strong Guthrie Govan vibe from this - I can give no higher compliment!

Yay, I smiled all the way through this song. Makes me wish I had practiced my guitar playing more when I was younger (a lot younger). Great mix, very polished.

the guitar playerthanks man, kind words jamesgappreciate that 'govan' comp.... LOL but comparing to HIM, no way, man, guthrie is an alien. i'm just a southern boy. wookiemr wookie, i have the typical 5 per, and only two of.LOL again.... you know, it's funny, but practical i guess, the older i get, the slower i get (speed playing wise).. you should hear how fast i played when i was younger, it's ridiculous. bayoubillthanks for listening, glad you dig it. now go PLAY! rebel007glad youre smiling man...... i DID practice a lot when i was young.. but doing 6 years of fulltime road work, will really hone your chops. thank you for listening

The phrasing reminds me a bit of Stevie Ray Vaughn. Fun piece.

kenny hey, thanks for checking this one out. clintmartin appreciate the review. the bass was really fun to track... a fairly aggressive bass tone is always fun to rock on.
jsaras thanks for listening.. that opening bit of riffing, has definitely got that texas-style blues riffage vibe happening.... that was a bit intentional, as it immediately changes to another style, then another style, it just keeps morphing...... the idea, is the song title: "the road to tabriz" basically, you are a westerner, heading to the far east... your journey starts on your home ground, but then you are somewhere new and strange, and you begin your final trip towards tabriz, then when you get there, you are overwhelmed and humbled. somptin' like that.

I too got a bit of a SRV feel from this number but wow the style changes are quite something. The guitar playing is outstanding and the piece itself demonstrates some real creativity. Excellent stuff!!

thanks freddy... the arrangement came from a sort of 'free-form' jam.... i guess the first part of the song was just a jam riff based on a typical pseudo-shuffle feel superimposed on a straight groove.... but the center section (the part with the multiple unison and harmony lines) was all worked out for that semi-prog feeling. in fact, it took me a while to get the timing down of that 'walk-down' out of the fast section to the slow part. i had to count it. LOL if this is right: (4) measures of 3/4 with (1) at 4/4

Bat, this is brilliant stuff, as usual. Your mixes lately seem to have benefited from the ARC software. I'm tempted to spring for one of these. Great job!

Bat, Really hot guitar number. Great pace with great licks. I like the way you have contrasting sections, each with a different rhythmic feel. A real burner, if you ask me. Cheers, Bert

Smokin'!!! Somebody get the fire extinguisher!!! Somebody said Steve Morse, I'll go with that. I like the little written transitional parts, they sound Zappaesque. Two listens are mandatory!!

Now THAT, is some sweet picking. Nice sounding mix..... loved so many aspects of it..... from the guitar playing to the fat full wirey sounding bass, and of course all the changes that flowed from one to the next effortlessly. Great job.

bluzdogthanks rocky, i'm glad you enjoyed it wayneappreciate the listen, it IS supposed to be groovy, glad that came across berti'm happy you got those contrasts, it's hard to do it and not make it too obvious... like forcing it or something. i tried to make it flow. ralphsteve morse is a real hero of mine, that said, i can't play a single lick of anything he's ever done... i just enjoy listening to him, never was a style influence.... zappa, on the other hand, i spent some time studying. it's easy to make it tricky, it's another to make it groovy with a little extra spice on it. scottythanks scotty, i appreciate it baputhanks for listening! guitarhackerthat fat wiry bass, as you call it... that's one of my favorite bass tones, yet, and i don't have a clue how i did it. LOL no sh!t, i couldn't reproduce it right now if i tried. i should take better notes.
