The Road's My Middle Name

Here's a cover of an old Bonnie Raitt blues tune...
Any feedback is always welcome and appreciated...

edit:
Remixed... bumped up the vox a bit, and the harp during the lead ride...

Dirty blues :-) Nice. Sounds like the mix could be and will be punched up. Based on what I'm used to hearing from you, sounds preliminary. When the harp comes in after sugar from the phone? Bring it up. Who plays the harp? Really love that harp... I mean all of the musicians in your band "rule" though, but I love that harp player. But the over all sound? I'm sorry Frank, I expect "great things" from you... This sounds "good" and the performances are great? I look forward to the remix.

From 99% of others? I would say GREAT JOB!!

From you? I'll say "good job."

sounds a blast. is this an old recording or have you tried to make it sound like it was recorded back in the 50s? the mix is good in that everything is balanced, great soloing and your voice is made for this sorta thing!

Bonnie Raitt rules! The performances on this sound great and you've really captured a "live band" vibe. You did a great job on the drums.

In response to Robby's comments, I agree this does sound less "polished" than most of your stuff, but I think that lends to the live feel so I liked it personally.

Very nicely done!  Good staging on the instruments, I can hear every one very clearly on its own spot.  You sing very well too.

Sweet blues rocker.  I'm liking it on my crappy work speakers.  I will give a careful listen at home this weekend.  But I expect it will sound pretty damn fine on my new Bose speakers!.
(I almost called you last night.  I don't blame you for saying "yea sure".  My life is really hectic right now working in healthcare and my ailing/failing mother has been an on-going strugle.  Not an excuse, just a fact.   I get home from work and I'm just frazzled.  3 more years to retirement!  I wont try to call you on the weekend but I will make every effort next week.)

    Frank,
Another fine job. I don't know if a live feel was what you were going for, but this mix has that live vibe.

Terrific one Frank.  Excellent playing by all, good vox, and wonderful harp!  I like the way that ya'll have done the song --- it gives this number that more retro Blues feel that I love.  IMHO I like the mix.  It adds to the back-in-the-alley, retro feel.

    Hi Frank,

Great song, great vocal and harp and great mix.

Love the sorta 'live' barroom vibe.

Great guitar and National (?) licks in the background, too.

    Excellent.

Terrific stuff, Frank. The playing is so super.

The only tiny nit is the vocal effect...would have liked to hear it more raw.

Lovely stuff Frank, you were born to play this music I could stand a smidge more volume on the harmonica, and just a little off the vocal effect, although I like the live feel it gives. Love to see you playing in a bar one day!

Wow... what a weekend... very busy, played out three days in a row...  haven't done that in a while...
Thanks everyone for listening and commenting...

Yes, I was going for a live club vibe on this... I used just a bit of Tempo Delay with the "Tempo Sync" set at 1/8T on the vox, harp and electric guitars...
Sorry I haven't commented here much lately, but I am listening...

Really like the band performance on this, Frank. Mix is great too, except, personally, I'd go for a little less echo on the vox; you've got the pipes, let 'em shine.

I don't really listen to much stuff like this and don't know the song, but I know enough by now to know that listening to one of your tracks will always be a lesson in how it should be done - as indeed it is here. I like the live feel of this and the way that you make it all sound so easy.

This is really fine, Frank. I love Bonnie and remember seeing her and her fabulous band years ago and I think she performed this one. Her slide playing was impeccable, almost as sassy as Lowell George. Your version is a well refined version, nicely performed and mixed.

    Hey, Frank,

Nice, good old fashioned, gritty sounding blues!

Great performances by everyone, and I really love the slide guitar work and the harp.  I'm also digging the live sounding "authentic vintage blues" mix.

    Great work, buddy!
