The Stage

I'm not really into country music, but I do live in Alabama... so here's a little tune I produced for a songwriter friend, Steve McMahan... Features David Adkins on lead geetar, piano and vocal...

Not my favourite genre Frank, but this sounds beautifully mixed and mastered, very nice work.

I do believe that is country.  I would think this could be a hit if it had a truck and dog in it.  Just kidding!  This is very well played and produced.   Nice instrumental and vocal work.

Not sure how you get your music that loud and clear. I guess you're just really good with the compressors and limiters? This is "classic" country... I love it! And the vocals/bgv fit it perfectly! The only thing this is lacking is a fiddle, that would ice it.  It's really amazing how good some of the music on this forum is. Oh wait! There's the fiddle! :-)

And I guess Dothan missed the rough stuff? Alabama was "hammered" by those tornados :-( Horrible devastation. Hope everyone living around the circle was spared.

Thank you Robby... yes, it was a mess, but I was very lucky... I did have a twister in my front yard that did $3600 damage to my old "Live Oak" trees... but my house was ok... except for the $12000 new roof estimate... My heart goes out to all the folks that were not so lucky...

GOOD LORD! Thank God the house and family weathered the onslaught. If you have a chain saw, you'll have firewood for a few years? But cutting and splitting oak is too much like work.

Super production work, Frank, as always.  Nice tune too, and the vocal delivery feels just right for it.  I kinda' liked the piano in there, and would have like to have heard a bit more of it, but that may just be a taste thing for me.

Sounds totally pro to me Frank.  I appreciate you actually had the piano mixed up for those fills in V2!  Adkins sure has a great voice... Reminds me of George Jones... but maybe with even more character!

    Peace,

Mix sounds fine. Don't know about the closeness of the sound stage kind of environment though?? Sounds a little closed-up to me.

Not so sure why everyone is so quick to proclaim they are not wild about country, then go on to say how good it is.  Myself, I will associate with just about any kind of music.

Good music is good music and this is good.  Well done and while it may target a certain genre: so what?  It's done well and that's what counts.

Well constructed and captures the flavor to a tee.  Nice job.

Love this stuff. Yeah, I think it’s corny, but that doesn’t mean I can’t love it. Well done – great production. Like the chord changes/melody and the playing is top notch (love those guitar sounds). Good stuff. As usual!
