Mr. Batsbrew, I gotta kick out of this piece. The walking/descending bassline coupled with the shuffling drums style is an attention grabber and holder. Nice funky bluesy guitar work....fast and furious........total thumbs up. I have only one question. You have the lyrics, where is the vox track?...............Ron

funky shuffle sir. yes the lead could be a little more upfront. only other thing was a little high-pitch flubby noise which appears occasionally, not sure if it is acoustic plec-attack or a funky-drum sound thing. whatever, it was annoying! anyhow, cool playing, natch, maybe needs a bigger hook and finishes quite too soon!

chrome- thanks man. you mean the high bends, that i use the pick edge to initiate? billy gibbons used to call that 'cheese'. heheh pretty good word for it... savageopera great man, glad you dig it! that bass line, is a great fun line... i was thinking old stevie wonder (like sir duke) the lyric, is in there, but you gotta listen for it. it's down deep, deep, deep in the pain. rolifer heh, don't need no stinkin' lyrics. cool. thanks for listening. james yeah, it's kinda just there, isn't it? i don't know, i DID bring it up, and then it annoyed me. the freq's were too strident. i tried eq'ing them, and that took the teeth out of it. so i tried to set it in there, just like it is, where i think, for an instrumental, it draws the listener in more, and the lead becomes more like a melody instrument, instead of "LEAD"...... i just like it better that way, more like mixing a jazz band or something. mgh thanks for listening. yes, the lead, see the reply above to james. it's not really supposed to stick out like a sore thumb, it's part of a complete band interplay. there's stuff that's going on with the rhythm guitars, that were designed to work WITH the lead, and if the lead were much louder, it would obscure all that other work. a fine balance, for sure. there's all kinds of funky noises, ambient junk going on throughout the song... lots of little noise samples, it had exactly the kind of result on you i think i was after. maybe not annoying......! LOL but something..... tap glad you're funkin' out man.

Groovy! Really nice and cool rock-funk-blues-fusion piece here. Mix sounds great on my home stereo equipment. Love the vibe, feels like a 70's gangster movie.
Sadly very reduced studio equipment as it is... ASUS G750J, 8 gb RAM, Win8, Roland Quad Capture.

Another great mix - you're just showing off now aren't you ? ;) I liked the way the bass sounds in particular - sits perfectly to my ears. It doesn't necessarily need vox, but all the same I'd love to hear it with some, other than the obscured ones you have in there.

Pretty cool... Actually almost gave me a Stevie Wonder vibe? You might want to cut the complexity of the lyrics down a bit, the story line got a little difficult to follow (for me?) I mean when the midget get's the girl by hypnotizing her and leaves the country in her boyfriend's private jet for a weekend romp in Marseilles on a yacht? Well, you had me up to that point, but I felt that was stretching credulity... Super guitar playing, very impressive.

Legion thanks man.... 70's gangster movie, i like that!! LOL it IS a little bit influenced from the fusion genre... i think you got it dialed in... funk (stevie wonder influence) rock (i guess a little Cosmosquad) Blues (a touch of SRV), but there's definitley a little brad paisley influence in there as well. and Brand X. probably Brand X would be at the top of the list. guitarhacker- glad you dig it. yep, that drum groove is really easy to lock in on... just don't pay attention to the strange voices. LOL stevenMikel thanks man, thanks for listening. paulo ha, no man, aint showin off...... still got WAY too much to learn still. this little ditty... and that's what it is, one of those little snippets i put together in one afternoon.... COULD be developed into a full blown song, but i like having the snippets too. i have an instrumental album coming out, and this will be on it. it will have to break up some pretty weird stuff, so it will be fun having a short 2-1/2 minute piece to thow in there. rockinrobby yep, thinking a bit of 'sir duke' on this one. you totally picked up on that. i mean, crap, who ever had more funky bass lines than stevie? well, except maybe parliament, or larry graham, or brothers johnson, or prince, or....oh, never mind. you got it. weekend rom in marseilles on a yacht? how about a weekend floating on a houseboat with a beer, in lake powell? LOL geeare1 thanks GR it's a '81 Mark 2B. 60 watts, graphic EQ, no reverb. quite a bit different sounding than a mark III, they all sound good to me. on this song, i set it up on the clean channel, and then drove the piss out of the amp (with an attenuator) and got a nice crunchy power amp saturation. scottytunes thanks jammer man.... like the answer above, the key to that sound, is driving the power section of the amp. i mean, granted, you can get a nice sound from the preamp alone, the boogie WAS designed to do that... but i rather like cleaning up the preamp side, and pushing the output tubes harder. it's a different 'feeling' more so than a sound.... it's more chewy. more organic. it's harder to play. it becomes extremely touch sensitive, which means if you fluff notes, it will REALLY tell on you! LOL so i have to concentrate more.. thanks for listening!

james125 ALRIGHT! HAIR STANDING! heheh thanks man, glad you enjoyed it... mesh appreciate the listen. stevie did that best, with his cover of 'superstition'. man, it's been 20 years. rip srv. johnjohn thanks, it's a trippy headphone mix for sure! scotty yes, possibly, you should. (get an attenuator) i played blues jr yesterday (had some tonal surgery done on my boogie) and that was a loud beast (green pc board model, pre 2000, made in usa) an attenuator would let you push it JUST a BIT more, but bring the volume down to tolerable and recordable levels.

Mr.Brew, fine playing and some hot thumping bass. I was getting a constant little click in my head phones that sounded like distortion or clipping but it was probably the cheap cans as no one else heard it. I love that strat and the way you make it sing.

STEVE Thanks man, glad you dig it. yeah, it's short.. it's just a little fun snippet, to break up some longer instrumentals it will sit between, on an all-instrumental release i'm working on. no how appreciate the listen! yep, that click, is just ambient noise on the rhythm track. folks that casually listen, or listen on 'lesser' systems, think it's digital clipping! LOL you're not alone..... and i guess, if i COULD (i can't) i'd take that out of the drum track, but it's committed, now, i don't have access to the original rhythm track, it's output as a 16 bit wav now, so there it is. i hear it clearly on my monitors... but i really didn't know, when i mixed it down, how it'd translate on different systems... i use AKG 240's for mixing headphones, i guess they're fairly accurate, and i should probalby get some cheap cans, to check mixes on. not a bad idea.

Woe is me. I never get to hear all the good stuff. I don't hear the clicks. What am I missing? I remember the first time I heard this I thought "what a poet". The lyrics almost overshadowed the instrumental prowess. Yes, it was on a bonus disc you sent. I still love the Trouble album. You do have some really fine lyrics on there, but it's hard to beat"magic, the time is magic". Ha.. later, buddy!
