freddy J thanks for listening! clear as a bell.... probably because i trimmed off all the fat! LOL actually, this particular mix, is one of my simplest, with the least amount of tracks.. 1 stereo drum track. 3 guitars. 1 bass. now, granted, the stereo drum track i built in Sony Acid, probably had at least 12 tracks, including the psuedo vocal 'time is magic' track, but i committed it down to a single stereo pair, and brought that into sonar to mix. so, really, it's a super basic mix, faders up mostly, with a little automation of pan and volume, and that's it. i put a wide band compressor across the 2-buss, and mixed into that. mild compression. limiter on bass, guitars were straight thru a pedal board for some compression, my yamaha dg stomp in the fx loop of the amp, and printed... bass straight up thru a sansamp bass di....

daryl1968 appreciate the listen! i'll tell you, that guitar (the usacg strat) is just dirt easy to record. i can find a dozen easy tones out of it, and the pickups, i can't say enough good about those pickups. very clear, and full, tho the tone of the little peavey tube amp doesn't have as much beef as my mesa, it does sit well in a mix. that was direct line recording, the speaker emulation on the peavey is very close to my Palmer Junction.... you know, that amp was designed by joe satriani, and he uses palmer gear to capture all of his tracks, so he probably came close to copying the circuit, and i already know the palmer so well, it's easy to dial in a tone. i mean, maybe i spent 10 minutes dialing in those tones! LOL

MARCUS- thanks for noticing the changeup.... i've been thinking more and more about dynamic changeups like this... in this one, i just kind of tripped across it, it seemed like a logical choice. the trick, is to put it where you want it whenever you want it, and still make it seem....... natural. that's what i'm experimenting with now. appreciate the comments

Lovely stuff Bats, great driving music, I could get a copy of this for my van. Do I hear a little Billy Gibbons influence here and there maybe? I'd like to hear him play with a tone like this sometimes.
