The X1 Master Class Vol. 1

Here's a great feature that is very useful if you do alot of splitting of clips.

Hit P for Preferences or right click the record button.

Click Advanced at the bottom.

Goto the Customization section and select Editing.

Under the Clips heading, goto option "Selection after single split". The default is Left portion. This means that when you split a clip, the left portion will be selected. So you can delete or copy or cut or whatever you want to do with it.

Your other options are for Right portion, Both portions, and None.

Select Ok and you are done.

Now select the track and the clip and hit "S" to split the clip. You should see the portion you want selected.

This is a very handy option depending on what type of editing you are doing. I personally like to keep it on Right portion, as that's usually the part I want to delete after a split.

Well boys and girls, that's it for today's lesson. See ya around the studio, and always remember, Keep making music!

That's a cool feature indeed - I have it set the same to highlight the right clip.

But it's not new to X1, I had it set up the same in S8 and 8.5

I prefer to highlight the right side also.

This is a nice option to have. I found it in 8.5 and had it set to highlight the right side side of the split.

I forgot all about it when I installed X1. Glad I saw this and it jogged my memory. :)

I wasn't sure if this was in 8.5.

    Good to know!
