The almost finished home project, not music related.

I'm almost ready to put the finishing touches on this project. All it needs now are hinges on the doors. Thanks to Spacey and Mike Mccue for answering some wood working questions I asked.

     Thanks guys!

Mike-  Painting the rest of the living room and covering the carpeted steps with oak treads. I already have new tread covers for the stairs ;P. A good winter project though.

Last comment before I bow out ...

    That is incredible.

I'm torn because I love brickwork, and I cringed when I saw you covering it, but I love the end result.

That will more than pay for itself when/if the time comes and you decide to sell.

    Awesome.

Just looking at the pics again...  You're not going to have any issues with the heat and your TV are you?

Looks nice but that's a really dumb place to put your TV. But you probably have no other choices in that room.

That place is fine for the TV. It's not a big enough fireplace to get that hot, and the chimney is enclosed behind the wall so the TV is not going to be up against the brick anyway.

Besides, it was converted to gas ... if it should happen to get hot, just turn the gas down.

Is this why Bapu's FSF is so hot?

Thanks for your comments! Craig I had a concern about the heat as well. In use there is no problem which surprised me. Like Bub said the gas heat is not that extreme and although the pics don't show it well there is a thick mantel that sticks out far enough to deflect the heat. I used the fireplace even before installing the mantle with the TV and still no problems.

The thing I really like is sitting in front of it in a recliner has me looking directly at the TV.

    Wow!
    Very nice indeed.
I'm not a fan of brick at all. For walkways they're ok but as house siding or fireplaces....BLEACHH!

Excellent job, that looks so much more home-ier.

    Mike

PS. Nice work on hiding the TV wiring too.

    Great job Star!

    Thanks for sharing it.

The heat concern? Well if I was worried by the TV I'd sure
be more concerned about setting the walls on fire lol.

Personally I like my TV at eye-level while I'm sitting to watch it- so it works for
    your family higher...perfect.
