The case of the missing Control Bar

Anyone else experiencing a control bar that turns black and has numbers on it.  Necessary to close out of x1 and restart X1 at which point it's there again ?

Sincerely,

That almost sounds as if your video memory is getting starved.

Hi Rasure, fancy meeting you here again today.  It just happens.  It's happened a bunch o times since the inception of X1.  All of a sudden I look up and its gone.  But thats all thats gone.  all the other GUI is intact.  Thats why i'm thinking it's in the software.  Not sure how force it's duplication though.  Thanks for checking in on this one.  I appreciate your help.

    Sincerely,

Have tired pressing "C" on you keypad while X1 is open? as this hides & reveals the control bar. It might help refresh the view rather than restarting X1.

Don't know if this relates, but I was having a variety of weird graphic problems once with certain parts of only a couple programs. It drove me crazy until I found out there was an updated driver for my graphics card. Once I installed that, the mysterious problems went away.

I have an open report with Cakewalk for the "missing" control bar.  I've experienced it and there are several others that have also experienced it from reports here and on the gearslutz forum.

Undocking and redocking is one way that will fix it, for some.

Cakewalk thinks (probably hopes) X1a has fixed the "missing control bar".  I haven't seen the problem lately but that doesn't mean that someone else has.  If anyone is still having the problem with X1a , post here and I'll respond back that it's still happening.

Occasionally when I minimize X1 and use other apps then bring X1 back in focus the Control View is blank except for the now time. To bring the CV back I can grab the right edge of X1 and shrink it a small amount and the CV returns immediately.

I had this issue before with another app and it seemed to point to an issue with the Sidebar in Vista but I'm not sure this is the cause of this issue.

Edit: I have applied the X1a update but still experience the issue.

I can confirm the problem still exists on my system.  It's not an NVIDIA video card issue either, as I pulled my NVIDIA GTS450 and put in an ATI HD4850 to see.  If I minimize Sonar, then go back to it later the Control Bar is gone.  Right click in the area where the Contorl Bar is to undock then redock it and it returns.

I've had it happen once in X1a.
Another "problem" is minimising X1 when using 2 monitors as the second view (Multidock) doesn't automatically expand to full size when expanding the main view.

If the control bar disappears again I'll try the undock/dock thang as I know that C and the menu option won't get it back.

Same here.  Minimize it, reopen, it's gone with exception to the numerical display.
Necessary to shut sonar down, restart sonar.

Should would like this one fixed.

    BTW,,  It's intermittent.

I just installed X1b's hotfix build 255 and now I have this issue.  I either have to restart X1 or undock the control bar.  Any signs of this getting fixed in X1c?

I read through the changes and it doesn't say anything about this problem.

I still have to mess around with the control bar - in fact it has got worse than it was. I used to be able to "flick" it down a little bit and it would come back from the dead but now I have to drag it to my second monitor and then drag it back and it then works.
    It's not very "pro"!

And there doesn't appear to be any info on 64 bit rewire so the only thing that makes me happy is the dual snap function.

I think this was listed in the 1st x1 patch.  I still have the same issue.  I just learned to live with it.  Almost does not bother me any longer.  It's pretty intermittent as well.  I'd have to walk away from the system for hours then undock it, redock it and i'm back in action.

    Good Luck

Yep, I sure am frustrated. So much so in fact, I haven't done anything on my DAW in over a week. I had to get away from it for a while. Probably should get away from here for a while too. :)

It could be that you are internetting and Sonaring. The control bar doesn't like this. In fact it is the cause of my control bar problem.

Happens to me every couple of minutes.

It could be that you are internetting and Sonaring. The control bar doesn't like this. In fact it is the cause of my control bar problem.

    Grum.
It does it even if I'm disconnected. I have my onboard NIC disabled and I use a USB-NIC. Even with it removed from the DAW it still happens.

But since I'm the only one it happens to, I'm sure it has to be something on my system.

I haven't had it happen for a while unless I have Sonar minimized and then the screen saver comes on.  What usually works it to right click in the space it should be select Float control bar, then when it comes up Right click it again to dock back at the top or drag it into place.

That was supposed to be fixed in X1b. Do you have the X1b patch?
