The danger of EQ controls on your interface's mix software

I love how my RME TotalMix interface has EQ controls so I can, for instance, EQ YouTube tutorial videos that people have recorded with crummy mics. Enable the HPF and notch out a few muddy frequencies and voila, passable narration. However, try as I might, I cannot remember to turn the freaking thing off when I'm done, which results in me spending a good hour or so on a mix before I realize all my work has been in vain. I hate myself sometimes

Yup... that's why I left them all set at flat....default level....and never go in there to mess with anything.

Same thing with the input/output default levels.  Set once.... don't mess with after that.

Yep. I have all my audio running through an external mixer. If some audio needs adjusting, I do it there so nothing is messed with in the computer.
