The demise of a once entertaining place

Last few weeks one of my favorite Internet hangouts (no not midget escort services) has become hostile, controlled and no fun.  Sort of like Orwell 1984.

Am I wrong?

You could say it isn't and you will have agreement.

You could say it is and you will have agreement.

It is what we make it. We came over a bump in the road and IMO we should look over the next hill and not back to the accident site.

Can you be more specific in telling us why you feel  it isn't fun IYO?

It seems to have become a bit stressful in here to me. I read and don't post much...I think the forum has a psychosis, at the very least it is severely neurotic. In other words things it seems like things keep threatening to spin out of control and fly apart but then everything slows down again but never quite gets back to normal... like there is a bad bearing somewhere.  Metaphors... they make sense to me anyway.

Everything was nutty and fun then a pall fell over the place, now there is shade in the sunshine.

    Probably just me...

Space, there is a quick-stop not far from my house. Twenty years ago
one could get gas, grocery items and even sit, eat and enjoy just hangin' about
    with some great folks.

It changed. It didn't take long and the gas pumps were trashed the place was
dirty so eating there didn't happen and they started selling mostly beer and lotto tickets.
    The place just got trashy.

Of course it didn't really matter....the new line-up didn't know or care how it was and the old ones that did just moved on and realized it was the managements choice.

I still go there but not very often. It's not the same...and the new place is just a little farther down the road :)

    Things change.

I am sorry you feel that way Spacey and jbow.

Can you be a little more specific? New people coming in made it worse? I'm not trying to put anyone on the spot here. I really don't see specifically how it got worse or not as good.

Some Space Cowboy got overtaken by real world issues and left us at the Bercy of opressive negative forces.

    I wish he'd come back.

I miss that guy.  He used to talk about like time-travel, feet and midgets and all the important stuff I could relate to.

Now it seems like we have to consider whether the word 'Poop' is acceptable in every culture before using it, whether we suffer from passive aggressive tendencies because someone thinks he's angry about something but is not clear what it is or what caused it or he's too afraid to say what caused it, and several people think that being Captain of the Marie Celeste is more important than having fun in the water.

    Or something like that.

Anyway the upshot is that I've started my bed-wetting episodes again and nobody seems to care.

Agreed - though I have never been a mega poster, the place was fun... perhaps it will be again - though it will be in a different way, as it will not be what it once was.
