The drive that failed come back to life ...?

All my data is backed up....its just, at any given moment doing virtually nothing on the pc, my computer will fail to detect the main hard drive. which usually leads to a BSOD or a message to install media. Cables, ports, motherboard is fine. Now, is it the power from the power supply failing, or the hard drive, because all of a sudden, it found it again, and i'm typing to you on the previously broken computer right now. When i had the hard drive out in the open, i hear clicking,. not a lot, but some....

Sata cables are fine i may add. it only loses that one hard drive. all other devices were good to go. Windows works, after a quick scan for corruption. I may just make a mirror bootable copy of this drive and use it, so then i dont have to deal with all the re-installation and serials and data transfer. what do you think?

    Sounds like a good plan.

It sure sounds like something's about to fail, though it could be anything from psu, to hard drive, to memory, though hearing clicking from a drive sort of points the finger squarely in that direction.

How many and what size are your existing drives?

it was the one and only bootable drive in there. the other was a small data backup, but it was recognized. I cloned the suspected failing one successfully. booted from the clone. seems to have gone flawlessly.. time will tell....that was just odd though, i never had that happen before. I will wait awhile before deleting windows off of the old drive, just in case.
