My older sister is suffering with this horrible disease. Why don't we joke about cancer, or aids, or something else hilarious. Ha,ha.

Ya I work in a care facility and it can be sort of funny, but also bad taste,, which is certainly allowed here .. but it's also very sad how people who were once just like us ( well hopefully different) all of a sudden slowly have to withdraw from society into a sometimes dark hole. Some are lucky and are happy folks who still smile but for many its a terrible way to end a wonderful life. I'd much rather have a physical disability than become cognitively impaired.

Example a new lady who's husband kept her at home as long as he could. I knew this couple from the dances I play at. Via that I new them for 20 years.  He felt like a dirty dog for having to turn her over to us, many do. But he was burning out keeping her out of trouble. It's like having a 160 lb 2 year old. She of course was upset about her new digs. But one thing brought her back was music... music stays with us into the darkest reaches of our minds. So I do these sing a longs and this is the most powerful gig I've ever had. We also use iPads with personal music to calm people down and take them to a happy place in their memories. Then one day she walks over to a crappy piano we have there and starts playing incredibly complicated stuff! This lady can no longer communicate verbally but she played that piano like a pro.  So we can joke about the day this might come for some of us,,, I think it already did for Sir Les,,,  and we are to keep an eye on each other ,, but just remember yo'll always have your music.
A new hot item is you can submit your desired care plan for when you get old. So make sure you put you playlist on there,,, it will make my job easier.

If someone you know has the affliction, have them try the following.  It's had a drastic effect on memory improvement for some I know (including my Mom) and provides many, many other benefits for just about anyone.
