The first track from my next solo cd

I've just uploaded the first track from my next solo album. It's an instrumental track heavily influenced by productions such as The Alan Parsons Project, Camel etc.

I used Sonar X1 and have experimented with some new mastering toys. I'm extremely happy with the result from a mastering perspective.

For keyboards, I used mostly soft synths (z3ta 1 and 2) Dimension Pro and Rapture. I love Z3ta 2.1 but hate the fact that I have to fight with it to get anything out of it.

Guitars used were Les Paul, Ibanez Artwood acoustic and Takamine nylon string. I used a Marshall TSL and miced it with an SM57. Acoustics were miced with a Rode NT2A and an SE2200.

Bass went direct via a Basspod.

Drums were a Gretsch Catalina kit miced with 8 mics (D112, SM57s etc)

The link for the track is :   http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11368595

Hope that you enjoy.

Cheers,

Peter.

This is a great piece of music.  It had changes, surprises, and held my interest throughout.  Nice production.  Good luck with your CD.  If the rest of the songs are this good, you may have a hit on your hands.

    All the best,

Very nice job. I like it very much. It has all the elements of an instrumental to keep the listener engaged. I gave it 5 stars.

    Good luck with the CD!

This was a great listen. Lots of different sounds going on to keep the interest up.
Nothing was over played, just enough of each. Mix sounded real good as well.

Thanks for listening everyone and for your kind comments.

@Lynn, the rest of the album is in a similar vein to this track. I can only hope.

The first album sold pretty well so I'm holding thumbs about this one. It's not easy marking and selling instrumental music these days...

    Cheers,

    Peter.

That track is absolutely fantastic. I've liked Alan Parsons Project for a long time and I can see why you'd mention them as an influence on this track but to be honest if you hadn't mentioned it I'm not sure I'd have noticed as you have your own sound.

The production is fantastic - the way you vary the arrangement and add little bits and pieces of ear candy is marvellous.

    Wonderful job.

    Cheers,
    Terry.

    Thanks, Terry,

I appreciate your comments on having my own sound. The things that I love about the APP are the little bits of ear candy that he puts into his productions. I try to do the same.

    Thanks for listening.

    Cheers,

    Peter.
