The future of Ambisonics

Hi guys, what are your thoughts on surround sound for ambisonics decoding for 3 D sound support in Win 10 and Sonar?  Will ambisonic plugins (not just Waves) work in Sonars surround?
Ironically, if Gibson were concentrating on consumer electronics; making these decoder headphones for ambisonic video and sound might pull them out of the red as it is destined to be the future listening medium me thinks.
The Music Industry have been crying out for a new medium that can be repackaged and developed with improved quality over MP3, Movie Industry too! Manufacturing begging for new devices to make.
It seems Ambisonic headphones, TVs and PCs are set to be made if the consuming public approve of and accept nothing but, Your thoughts please?

You don't actually need a decoder or encoder plug for surround sound for headphones, unless you're talking about sound for virtual reality and 360 degree videos. 360 audio require encoders and decoders if you want the audio to move with the head so to speak, but if you're after static surround sound...then plugs like binauralizer which uses ambisonics, and Brauer from Wave's can create movement in a 360 degree field.

fwiw I made a b-format mic and hardware decoder.

I tried it of some live recordings I did and found it underwhelming compared to the clusterpup that it took to provide an ambisonic recording to those around me who couldn't care less.

Fair enough, perhaps it is early days yet for the
B format. Which is what I was on about, Seems there are plenty of plugins and such for it.
