The most pretentiously arty photo I have ever taken
Was sat in the window of a coffee shop on 5th Avenue. I'm thinking this would be ideal for a Suzanne Vega album cover, should the 1980's ever roll around again (unlikely due to inherent limitations of the space/time continuum).

Well all I can say is that if you had taken a B&W photo from behind of me wandering down the street in tight pants and heels when I was in my late teens/very early twenties that's pretty much exactly what you would have gotten. I rarely wore high heels tho.

When you're up there, you really do feel like you could take a running jump onto that rooftop. In reality you'd probably get about 4ft across and then drop like a stone.

To be honest I think her arms look disproportionately long because of a trick of the eye. Because her right leg is reaching forward, it puts her hand almost at knee level when I think if she swung her arm forward her hand would be around about mid-thigh level.

I could see a trick of the lens/moment accentuating the features I'm seeing but there is so much more indicators. The hands in particular. They told me I had it up until about a year or so ago... except I didn't die (and they finally did the genetic test). After about a decade of being told my heart could just randomly explode and I would die unless I got under the knife within 20 minutes I must say I was rather relieved to learn that was not the case. Then I got a wee bit miffed that I had spent a decade under the impression that my heart could (and eventually would) explode randomly at some point. Now I'll just likely die of a good old fashion heart attack or some form of cancer hopefully at least twenty years down the road like a normal old fart. So I got that goin' for me.

In other related news... When I was briefly in high school (shortly before getting booted out) I was hanging out with the boys in the yard with my back turned toward the school and this little spacey grunger type chick from another class comes running up yelling "Joey!! Joey!!"... which of course is not my name. I turn around and she's like "Oh, it's you. I thought for a second Joey Ramone was here. What's up?". At first I thought it was a put on but nope... for some bizarre reason (probably just smoked a dewb or some crap) she was convinced, for some bizarre reason, Joey Ramone had just randomly showed up at an even more random southern ON high school and was hanging out with a bunch of drewgie teens in the yard. It was pretty funny. I should have asked her out. She was cute... but yanno, teenage boys are stoopid.

I once went into the big post office opposite Penn Station to mail a package, and the lady behind the counter says "Oh I know who you are...it's on the tip of my tongue....you're in the movies right? And I think I've seen you on TV. Oh don't tell me....don't tell me...." So I didn't. And she continues to keep wracking her brains. In the end she just says "but you are though, aren't you?" And I winked and said "I sure am" and walked away. That was about 8 years ago. I wonder if she's figured out that I am indeed sharke?

Speaking of "is he/isn't he" stories, here's another photo from my collection from years ago. I swear this was Lou Reed - I'd seen him coming toward me and wanted to take a photo from the front but thought what a douchebag move that would be. So I waited until he was passed and then swung around and caught him from the back. Sparked a bit of a "is it really him" debate on Facebook at the time, if I recall.

I was working security a few years back, and was assigned to a large grocery store for a few days. One night about ten minutes before closing time, a little girl (8 or 9 years old) came to me to help look for her that she had left behind. So off we went looking for her hat. At one point she said to me, "You remind me of a movie star". So now I'm properly flattered, and I said to her, "Yeah? Which one", waiting to find what kind of hunk I am to a little girl. ......."Mall Cop", she said.
