The mystery of the red toilet seat
One of the services my business provides is having sitters stay overnight with people's pets while they're away. It can be quite lucrative but I'm seriously thinking of ending the service because of the level of petty complaints it generates. People come home in a bad mood and they pounce on the most trivial of BS (a glass was left out on the counter, a lamp left on) and they're writing formally worded "I had expected your company to show more diligence in its blah blah blah......" style complaints which basically expose their general unhappiness with life, but that's another story.... Anyway, this latest one has baffled me. Client comes home to find that her toilet seat has a slight red cast to it. She initially suggested that maybe the sitter sat on it when he was covered in paint, but it wasn't a paint stain. More like dye of some kind. The sitter tells me the only thing he can think of is that he sat on the seat with red underwear on while he was waiting for the shower to get warm. But could that conceivably cause a toilet seat to go red? Here's the seat in question - she sent me a photo:  The only clue I can see is that there is a white gap at the front of the seat which suggests that whatever it was, was on his clothing. But whoever heard of a toilet seat being stained like that from someone's underwear? I'm totally stumped.... Oh and I will be receiving a bill for the seat once she's asked her super how much it will cost to replace

I think your employee has some splainin' to do. Did he happen to pass out for 20 hours while waiting for the water? Did he buy said undershreddies from the trunk of a car owned by a guy named Oleg?
I would keep my eye on that employee.

A nice one. One would think that if the undies stain the seat that strongly, the skin of the sitter must also be dyed, right?
Or...could there be a thin layer of some kind of disinfectant or cleaning fluid on the seat that has dissolved the color?

^ this I'm guessing that toilet had a cover on it for a long time, and it's stained the seat.

Researching pink toilet seats earlier (yes I actually did that) brought up some interesting info. I see people ask about it online and in most cases it's on some kind of pregnancy forum. Apparently pregnant women are turning toilet seats either pink or blue. People are suggesting that it's hormone related but nobody really knows the cause.
Since my employee is male I asked him if maybe his girlfriend used the bathroom when she dropped him off at the place. Swears he didn't. So I'm thinking the most likely explanation is that the client is pregnant. Wonder if I should bring it up?

God I hate those things. No matter how careful you are about setting them down, the waft of air your butt creates as it maneuvers toward it is enough to blow it right off the seat.
