The never ending money pit!
This year, I added Console 1 (which I love) and Universal Audio Apollo Firewire (which I also love). Now I am convinced I need a 2x2 monitor array Top L - U Audio console and whatever plugins are being used in unison mode Top R - the channel strip from Console 1 Bottom L - The track view of SPLAT Bottom R - The console view/tab thingy of SPLAT Wait What about one for samples? Master Writer for lyrics Ooh - what if I need an audio editor open? That makes 7 monitors. But I like symmetry. OK now I need a 3x3 monitor array. I could keep the forum open on one and have cat videos on the 9th one. Or SPLAT manual. Or the UAD plugin manual. All seriousness aside, how many of you use more than 2 monitors? Does anyone still use just one? I like this but there is no place for my near fields
Some people call me Maurice SPLAT Pro lifetime, ADK 6 core 3.6Ghz with 32 GB RAM, SSD 1TB system drive, 3 3TB regular drives for samples, recordings and misc. Behringer X Touch, UAD Apollo Quad. 2 UAD2 Quads PCI (i think - inside the box whatever that is), Console 1. More guitars (40??) and synths (hard and soft) than talent. Zendrum!!!

Forget monitors. They're silly. Buy more computer keyboards. I use six at once!
Splat, Win 10 64bit and all sorts of musical odds and sods collected over the years, but still missing a lot of my old analogue stuff I sold off years ago.

HAHA! Great post! I use three - main screen center. Left for Synths (Play, Kontakt, etc), Center for Sonar, Right for more synths and to view movie files for scoring. My monitor card has an unused out for HDMI which I am thinking of using for a TV monitor for viewing movie files for scoring - freeing up monitor 3 for more synth instances. All reverbs etc are docked in the docking screen.
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is. SONAR Platinum 64bit, Windows 10 Pro 64bit, Polywell Core i7 x98 3.33GHz, 24GB RAM

+1 That's me my friend. I have 1- 40 inch HD Monitor and another 24 inch HP monitor but I rarely if ever use the 24 inch HP monitor. All my work is done on the 1 40 inch screen using different multidock views. CNTRL+SHIFT+LEFT/RIGHT ARROWS used to be the command I used. But now I use 2 footswitch's that does it for me.

Put the Near Field Monitors at the very end of the monitor array and angle them inward toward your sitting position. Make sure they are positioned at ear level and you should have a wonderful setup!! You may go crossed eyed after all of your efforts, but you'll have one heck of a set up.

I use a 40" 4K monitor and a 24" 1200p monitor, since it is my main desk. The 40" monitor is fantastic, but for music you'll need a deep and wide desk to have the speakers on each side. For many people, 27"-29" will probably be a better fit. I've worked for many many years with 2 monitors. It is ideal in my opinion, 3 or more is very problematic for music unless you have the space.
