The perfect Xseries install order...

In an effort to fix the intermittent crashes in Sonar X3 with the PCS-BussCM.dll module, I'm doing a clean win 7 64 bit instal and want to instal nothing else but Sonar X3 but I need both the Lexicon Patntheon from 8.3 as well as V-Vocal from x1.

I realize the 8.3 will allow just the Lexicon .dll but to get V-Vocal, I have to install the program files from X1. Each new version of the X Series installs into it's own folder in the \program files\cakewalk\ directory. However, the \ shared utilities directory is used by all the versions currently installed and the location of the problem module (PCS-BussCM.dll ) is in the \shared utilities\Internal directory.

Here is where my question lies. Do the versions of the files in this directory get updated with each new X version or, once installed, these files never change? If they don't change than the instal order of Sonar would be very important no?

Any insight here would be appreciated.

Normally I would claim the order does not matter, the installers should be smart enough not to overwrite newer files. Unfortunately, I was recently involved in a situation where an X1 installation performed after an X3 installation overwrote the QCEQ. The fix suggested by Cakewalk was re-run the X3 installer. Since you are starting out fresh, I would recommend performing the X1 advanced install before installing X3. The 8.3 advanced install for the Lexicon reverb does not matter.

    Scook,
do you know of any other way to get the functionality of V-vocal without installing a complete version of sonar x1?

Yes, run the X1 advanced install. It still requires installing the actual X1 SONAR program but there is no need to install all the X1 plug-ins.
