The things you left behind - Rich Thomsen and SquareSpiral

Hi Guys,

So first off my apologies that this is not a blues song - I know it's a popular genre around these parts with the regulars ;) This is instead another slice of Rich Thomsen/SquareSpiral electro-pop which we would love for you all to give a little listen to.

Thanks in advance, I hope you like it!!

Regards

It's OK, I appreciate non-blues as well, and this definitely is non-blues!

I'd get to the big beat a little quicker but mix-wise, it ticks all the boxes for they style you are aiming at.

If I am allowed to go outside the "mix" criticism, I did find myself underwhelmed by the lyrics - it would be nice if there was more lyrical meat on the bones - but that's probably just me being old and a little cranky. Nice job nonetheless!

    cheers,
    -Tom

Once the beat kicks in and 'The Vocal Delivery Strengthens', the echo becomes clearer, and the overall song at that point is transformed from ordinary to 'extraordinarily outstanding'.

    Chris,
Your song is not really in my genre. However, you did an excellent job with this. The mix sounds rich to me. Perfect, actuallly. The arrangement is really good and flowing. The song keeps moving forward, something that in my mind is essential but not always easy to accomplish. Excellent.

I'm with getting to the meat a bit quicker but it was really worth the wait.  I think that a lot of us have blues backgrounds, rock roots, etc., but most like to listen to all the songs up here.  Like anything else, some don't please us but that's usually personal taste or a bad production.  I love music like this when it has the elements to keep me interested.  This does.  Just electronica tracks with no vocals, videos or lead instruments get a bit tedious, probably because there is no dance floor close to me.   Now, that's just my opinion.  Chris, you do some nice stuff.

Not really my genre either, but I can appreciate that it is really well done.  I was particularly impressed with the way the synth textures built behind the vocals.  Very well arranged and mixed.

Cheers guys for the plays and great comments - and the blues thing was just a little fun. I've dabbled in many styles over the years but never the blues - currently on a bit of an electronic mission - in case no one noticed!! ;)

The arrangement just kinda evolved (as they often do) and each time I built to a crescendo I decided to see if I could top it and go one bigger - Was a fun song to put together.

    Cheers!

This is a very professional production regardless of style.  You obviously have some good mixing chops.  Keep up the good work!
