The vocal/ General Mic for $200-$300

Hi there:

I would like to know your opinion on this. Choosing mics and speakers comes to actually have the chance to A/B them or playing with them for a long period. I tried a few mics in a store in New York. I'm looking the best vocal/ general purpose mic for $200-$300.

What is your opinion?

What do you think on (classics for the price)?

1) Audio Technica AT3035 (and other AT line, like AT2020, AT2035, AT4040, etc.)

2) CAD M-179

3) Rode NT1A

4) MXL V69m

5) Any other on the price range you would like to comment.

I would like to thanks everyone on sharing your thoughts.

The Studio Projects B1 is only $100 and sounds great on most stuff. If it's just for vocals maybe the MXL V69m.

For vocals, you might want to take a look at the Shure KSM27. It's a nice mic that works great for vocals and it priced nice as well...

    THANK YOU All!!!!

at3035 seems to be a goos 'one-size-fits-all' mic. A read reviews where people use it as drums overhead too, as RRabbi stated.

    Cheers!

yeah... I want to buy another one to use for overheads... might pair it up with an SM57 too when mic'ing guitar amps/cabs... apparently, supposed to be really nice for that too...

I, too really like my AT-3035, versatile, clean, and more 'air' than you'd expect for the price. I've also had good luck with CAD C195's as overheads and room mics for live recordings. They are about $125 each in Canada.
