TheLoveDalek

Ok time for another freshly mixed and mastered song from the vault, this time The Love Dalek: http://soundcloud.com/aaudiomystiks/thelovedalek  The Love Dalek started off as a bet between my housemate and I as to whether I could make electro house music, I said it was piss easy and he said I couldn't do it.  He ate his words but some who are dance music experts may disagree.

The song its self was done in Project 5 this was fed into my Creamware virtual mixer, so most of the synths are from Creamware apart from the growling synth heard in the heavy tom section, this synth was the ubiqutious Pys Synth, the other non Creamware Synth was the Pentagon which is the Pitch Envolope sound you hear.

The problem was the track as a whole to mix never worked, this was because it was sequenced in Project 5, mixed in Creamware and recorded in Sonar, very complex.  Fast forward to last week and I decided to see what I could do, rather than remixing the whole track which I felt was impossible to recreate, I took one of the old premasters and turned it up 3db,I have then placed the Multiband compressor over the top of the track and remixed it this way, I have then placed my TL Audio A2 compressor over that and finally Boost 11.

Now I will admit it is not perfect but I think I may have got away with it.

Now for the story, the concept of the song relies on this simple idea and for those of you who do not know what a Dalek is, its a creature from DrWho and the most feared creature in the universe: Exterminate!!! just think of Nazi's in indestructable metal one man tanks with no emotion and no morals but they look like giant pepperpots, anyhow rather than The Daleks being the all encomposing and destructive force wanting to take over the universe, what if they were to try and enforce an order of love onto the universe.  This then opens up the question of perhaps Love and not manmade wepons are the most potent and destuctive wepon in the universe.

Ok I know a whacky concept but hey I never said I was normal!!!

Peace and Enjoy Ben

    This is awesome Ben! Damn!

The only thing I noticed about it is I had the benefit of a subwoofer without a subwoofer. There are some serious sub sonic frequencies pumping in this and thankfully my HS-80's handled it. :) A tinge missing in the mid range, but that could by my ears. I've been mastering an impossible project all day and me and my ears are very tired.

Thanks for posting this it's really good.

This is excellent. I'm not really a big fan of this kind of dance music but there's so many cool and wierd things going on it makes it very accessible and enjoyable anyway. The synths sound great and the morphing into the vocal thingy is fantastic. Sonically it's a treat. Thanks.

sounds great, no idea if the mix is right for this kinda genre (maybe an expert might want a stronger kick sound?) but it sounds massive to me. very cool vocal fx.

Very interesting work. It is very cool for what it is I guess. The mix sounds really good. I wonder how it would sound if you imported the midi into Sonar and built it from the ground up?

    Well done!

Well I thought that this track was gone and dusted, that's why I posted LR6, thanks so much for the postitive comments.  Yea I am unsure about the subs as well Bub but I can't go back and remix that track because it's  a performance and to get the same sounds would be nigh on impossible.

I have been mentioning the use of the Multiband, I am starting to use it a little more but very gently it can really help get the last inch on the master.  But very gently.

    Peace Ben
