Theme-ed or General Expansion Packs

Opinion Question:

Would Rapture user's prefer expansion packs be

1.) THEME-ED (i.e. a content follows a particular organizational theme, such as Ambient Pads, or Techno Basses, or Electro Synths, etc. and offers a large selection in that category, but no selections outside that category)

or

2.0 GENERAL and thus diverse (i.e. containing some pads, some basses, some leads, some effects, etc. more diversity, but less content in each category.)

I would consider the expansions packs that have been released to date as falling into the second option.

Any opinions are welcome.

(As you may have guessed, I am asking b/c I am working on the final stages of completing and organizing such things.)

I prefer either or. sure that doesnt help huh I am somehow leaning towrds the themed idea. Say I am looking for resources in my pad department I would rather go for the themed than purchase a full package to get few pads. just a thought.

    Hi Andrew.

Probably Themed. If I'm going out to buy a set of sounds, it means I'm in a big hurry and I'm looking for something specific. I've got plenty of GM-type sets, plenty of basses, plenty of analogs, plenty of FMs, plenty of strings, plenty of voices, and very happy with my acoustic pianos, thank you. When I'm shopping for sounds, I want something unique, and it's usually either either ethnic or atmospheric. (Got any good bagpipes? -- I saw that one here earlier this week. Someone else was looking for a pedal steel vst.)

Sorry for being such an old, jaded consumer.

By the way, I've been using Architecture Waveforms as Rapture waveguides and getting some nice results.

    Keep up the good work!

    Andrew,

yea, I would think that "themes" would be the way to go - that is how I choose my libraries, anyway. It seems I already have 1/2 a dozen synths with the standard sounds. I'm sure many others are in the same situation - if I'm looking at something new it is instrument/genre type stuff.

What I really like are the strange, fx types sounds for René's synths, but that is just me. The more off beat, the better.

I like the Theamed Idea, but at the same time having some packs with a combo would be nice also. For me at this point I'm looking for Patches that have interesting programing ideas.

Themed, definitely. I hate the "grab-bag" concept. A little of this, a little of that. Give me focused sound libraries - i.e. Craig Anderton's Minimoog Tribute for Rapture.

    Cool. Thanks.

Themed was my original plan, so I will stick with it! Thanks for the feedback.

I am now just organizing the first into a manageable download size(s). Should not be much longer than 1 week more... depending on the holiday weekend.
