These Guys Were One Of A Kind

This clip showcases my favorite version of Dr. Hook. They had this lineup until 1975, when George Cummings(pedal steel, lead guitar) had to quit touring temporarily due to chronic bronchitis. The band decided to go on without him. Consequently, their following albums went in a commercial/pop direction, with studio musicians playing on the records. I'm sure they made a lot more money doing pop songs, but the early Dr. Hook was something special in my opinion.

    Saw them in early 80's.  Small venue, pretty good show as I remember.
     
    I do remember there was a drunk biker chick right behind me, knew all the songs, did not know how to sing.  But that did not stop her.
     
    I was about to say something, but her big biker boyfriend made me think twice and, well discretion being the better part of valor, I did not say anything.  I still have a straight nose and all my teeth.
