These Memories Of An Old Man
I wrote this in 2008 and had tracks done at a Nashville studio and sent to me to do the vocals at home. My original version used their mix and my vocal which was done with a slight cold, so I took their wav files and remixed and redone the vocal. The song is about a man with dementia that comes and goes. Listen all the way to the end for a little twist. Thoughts are welcomed. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12807454

teego, Very heart felt song with a nice sound to it. Nice instrumentation and nice vocals. Awesome mix on this, as well. Nice lyrics. Good piece of work, enjoyed. Remember, I love you dad!! Nice ending that tells the whole story. Peace and Blessings, John

Thanks Robby, sorry about your Dad. I have never been in that position but I have thought so many times how terrible it must be to have someone who has known you all your life to suddenly not know you, especially a loved one. I thought about it enough to write this song. John, thank you for the nice comments and the listen! Glad you enjoyed it.

It was difficult... I was one of his care givers at the end (last 6 months) and I have a memory of one night he was up and I heard a commotion. I went in his room and he was on the floor trying to put out fires (not there) I told him "Dad, dad, come on we have to get you back in bed." He was going about 220 at the time? And not in very good shape, so I double underhooked him and dead lifted him off the floor and put him in his bed. He looked surprised! As I tucked him in, he looked at me and said "you're pretty strong for a woman?" And I LAUGHED OUT LOUD! And I said, yeah, yeah dad, I guess I would be pretty strong for a woman :-) (he thought I was a nurse I think) But what was really interesting is, he confused me, he confused my sister, but I had a young son (less than a year) and whenever he would see him, he would light up like a bulb and smile and say, "There's my grandson!" Right to the end, he knew that boy, and he always made him smile.

That made me laugh out loud too! I guess we can have good memories even from the bad times. Thanks for sharing that story Robby! I am glad he. Knew your son to the end.

Great country tune and the lyrics are touching, but sad....If you hadn't told me about the way you got to master I would have never guessed that the song went through those changes. It sounds pro on my end.

Great song teego. Particularly well recorded and mixed. Everything sat just where it needed to be. The vocal was spot on. Just the right amount of special sauce. Now you got me crying in my cup of tea. (see what you made me do there)
