Things on TV that really annoy me, part 2 :-(
Well I'll be.... The 'nanny state' has finally arrived here in the UK. BBC3 Continuity Announcer: ...now on three, and with some violent scenes, it's the first in a double bill of... Family Guy Are you sure? "Violent" scenes? It's a feckin' cartoon for fecks sake The world's gone feckin' mad. And don't get me started on the nauseous, sycophantic, blanket media coverage of the birth of our future king I don't recall ever having voted for him.

Besides series which we buy on iTunes or watch on Netflix, the only TV show I watch is South Park. I actually stream it directly from Comedy Central online, but it's just like tv, w/ crappy commercials. And every time, I'm reminded of how glad I am not to own a TV. I see stuff during the commercial break and I'm appalled to think that some people will actually buy into that stuff and believe it (one of my favorites being 5 Hours Energy - the pseudo reasoning in that commercial give me brain cramps every time). I think the average public actually needs the nanny state to tell them that Family Guy is violent. To be safe, I'd also tell them that it's fictional, that it's a cartoon and not to try any of this at home. Yes they ARE that stupid nowadays.

You didn't see the scene where Stewie shoves Lois in a closet and throws the grenade in after? How about the scene where the evil monkey in Chris's closet converts him into an evil monkey? Or the scene where Brian get run over by a car driven by none other than Stewie? Or the part where they axe murder the Simpsons? By the by. You should the tele here, mate. They got the blasted highlights on the Royals every stinking day of the week. And twice on Sundays! and you think you got it bad?

We have Dish satellite and my only compaint is that I would like to be charged per channel and have the option to choose which channels would be on my menu. I can control everything else.

Haven't had a TV in 10 years and have never regretted it. The most annoying thing about TV is the endless commercials and trailers and just general flashy, bleepy, inane CRAP in its presentation. That's before you even get to the programs, 99% of which are not worth anyone's time. I think what really disturbs me is that the puerile imagery that is TV is a direct reflection of the mentality of the general public, for whom TV is manufactured. Shows are made and presented in a way which pleases the majority, since that's how TV companies make their money (and no, the BBC is not immune from this). It just makes me depressed about the tastes which prevail in society. For instance, I hate the TV media's idea of "sexy" - it's so bland and obvious and completely unsexy. Yet this is apparently what turns most people on. Same goes for the 99% of the pr0n that's on the internet....I can't understand why anyone would be aroused by it, it's so fake and tacky, yet apparently this is what most guys want. A $10/month subscription to Netflix does me well, for the one or two shows that I end up watching. And there are no inane commercials or trailers or other crap like that. Every now and then someone from Time Warner Cable will call me and say "we've noticed that you have our internet but are not taking advantage of the deals we offer on cable TV....can we interest you in a package?" When I tell them that I don't watch TV and have no intention of doing so and don't even own a TV, they refuse to understand. "Yes sir but what we are offering is 200 channels for $49.95"....."But I don't own a TV"...."Yes but with Package X you can watch the shows you want to watch when you want them"....

I lost interest in TV first when I started watching shows On Demand and finding out that fully one-third of each hour is filled with commercials, and then I REALLY lost interest once On Demand started adding the commercials AND requiring you to see them by disabling fast-forward. To heck with that!

Hi, I haven't watched anything on TV in so long, that ... that ... that ... and the only thing I catch is a few soccer games here and there on the net and that's it. The Portland Slingers ... errr .. .Timbers are fun to watch ... a bunch of rabbits running all over the place and creating havoc on the field! Maybe watch a few kids have fun with a Robbie in LA, or Landon ... nice to watch Tierry once in a while ... the rest? ....
As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

I ended up watching TV in the gym today because my phone battery was about to die so I had no music. I ended up on (I think ) Pix 11 and it was a show called "Bloopers." Basically like America's Funniest Videos but now they've gone one step further in cheap ass TV and have taken to just ripping the videos off of YouTube.
They also had some silly prank they were doing outdoors where some douche in a baseball cap was asking passers by which of two pairs of sunglasses he looked best in, and he had a giant booger hanging out of his nose. Rock bottom TV. But if that didn't annoy me enough, there was also this: for some inexplicably dumb reason, they had blurred all of the logos on everyone's t-shirts. Whether it was a sports jersey with a number on, or something with a product logo on, they had blurred it. When did TV get so pathetic and spineless that they started censoring logos on people's t-shirts? I mean what possible consequence could there be? 20 minutes of this crap made me realize just how much I hate the media.
