Things you see just cruisin'

My wife and I do a lot of camping.

We used to always use our tent.

One night it rained and we simply slept in our Honda Odyessy.

Now we only camp when the weather is cool and we almost always just sleep in the Odyssey.

We have the back seats removed or folded up and we put all our stuff in the front seats each night and have a whole bunch of blankets and pillows in the back.

Works great for our dawn to dusk day hike tourist trips up in the Smoky Mountains and on the Blue Ridge.

We just check in to the tent campgrounds at the parks and never pitch our tent.

Life changed out plans. We are raising a grand-daughter and have been
since before she could walk.
NOT a complaint. Just the way things turned out.

Any plans for camping as well as many other activities have to be
designed for reality rather than what we thought they'd be.
Are Our plans of seeing the states from a Harley and camping gear.anytime we would like....well that's mostly a past dream.

Kids are great but require a different battle plan. The reality is we wouldn't mind
but she would. If she thought she'd be stuck with us two old hippies in a small
camper by the lake for days....well professional help may be a requirement. A search team
comes to mind.

 We had a popup camper for awhile. It even had heat but no A/C. My wife loved it but not very fun for me. Setup and leveling, making sure I didn't leave the hitch loose before I pulled away(very important). Then I felt very insecure in it. Just cloth at both ends.

  We sold it and now I either rent a cabin or go to a B&B as a getaway occasionally. For any getaway I like low stress and low maintenance. Bus or train or plane.....long drives are not relaxing for me at least....

we used to do a lot of camping when I was growing up, and then when I had kids of my own, we camped a lot, especially when the youngest one was very active in Boy Scouts...but he's grown now and I simply am not a "camper."  the closest I get now is renting a cabin occassionally.

( I consider it an investment of learning with a cost off-set....if it's good both
parties gain even though they (we) both paid)
The Tele project is already a lost and not even finished. Building is very expensive.
The unforeseen loss in material has already doubled the build cost which can't be
passed on.
So.....what that means is if you see me in one of those...I'll be the hired driver/flat changer LOL.

Yeah sorry to mention that Michael (even in fun, as it was meant) - that's nobody's business but your's and Ed's.
 
 

Steve please don't think I took it wrong. Although it wouldn't be right for me to disclose what Ed paid but
there is not a problem with me sharing details of building. It's just profit is not part of it....yet? LOL
Well I'm saving my scrap Steve and you never know if it may float ashore....what kind of wood do you
like in the UK and how do you like it shaped?

yeah, in this day a lot of kids don't get outside activities any more.  have you noticed the ad campaigns from major league players about getting an hour of exercise?

when we were kids we were outside until dark every day and sometimes PAST dark!

What I did like and would buy in a heartbeat if I had the coin is
a motorhome. Even if just to park in the yard! lol
Man they were nice. I think I'd really have a great time with
Willie Nelson..... Go green...I like his green thinking...
( the cheapest one on the lot was $101,000.00 and imagine a
500 gallon tank at 4 a gallon....unreal, errr all to real)

My wife travels for work and I've been fortunate enough to travel coast to coast with her at almost no cost. She's in Tampa right now and heads to Oklahoma next week. With fuel costs the way they are we would never have been able to go. We were planning a trip to Utah this year but can't because of the cost of fuel going up. And the fact I'm out of work doesn't help either.

btw ... I met Willie once and talked to him for a few minutes. He's a genuinely nice person. I got to see Trigger up close too. They should put that thing in the Smithsonian when he goes. (Trigger is the name he gave his Martin acoustic he's played all these years.)

Man that is cool Bub. I love traveling with my wife.

I'm really sorry for the job situation. This is the first
time in my life I missed the downturn...I know the feeling and
don't mean to say I know how you feel..I know it can be a
nightmare. You hang on and ride the storm. Don't forget
you have friends here.

I would sure enjoy meeting Willie and you're right about that guitar.
One thing about Willie...when people start learning of all the songs
he's written, have to be amazed. Very cool guy.

The biggest thought I had Bub was....how do folks afford these things.
I mean I have a good job and don't waste money, live in a very modest
2 bedroom home and just no way. I can't buy them and sure not going
to take a loan....if I have to take a loan I can't afford them..or at least how
I see it. Don't mean anything bad to those that do take loans...just different is all.
I have taken loans before...and just think differently now.

Another thought about those things...I kinda look at them like "part time" use.
Real hard for me to justify a boat that may hit the water a handful of times a year and
there's three big nice lakes 5 minutes to 20 minutes from my house.
But it was sure fun being with the wife and just looking. That was the main reason
for the rides.
