Think I got one !!
I think I finally nailed down a decent mix! I don't understand how I can be so 'hit & miss' with ANYTHING. . . but I, sure as sh*t, am when it comes to mixing. I've ruined great songs and further clouded decent ones. What am I flippin' missing? If you feel like giving her a go - http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12307505 Let me know what'cha say, eh ?

I'm listening on some cheap computer speakers so I don't have great fidelity. The mix levels on the instruments are pretty good.... just a few nits to pick. This is what I can hear. Overall the mix is pretty good. it needs a few tweeks. I'm hearing a strange high end thing on the vocals. the vox sound pretty muted on the higher mids and then there's a flash every now and then of really high stuff like sibilance. (pause.....) OK... I switched to my lappy and some cans. I think I know what I was hearing. Did you clone the vox to double it? (guessing) The sibilance I though I heard, I think is comb filtering of two identical tracks that have been nudged a few clicks and the highs are coming together in unkind ways. In several places it really stands out... on the chorus especially. If that's the case.... the solution is to record that track 2 times or 3 time.....no cloning. Doubled tracks sound good when done right. And I think that sound really works for this song. The drums, are maybe a few db too loud in the mix. Maybe not..... It might just be that snare. I really like the song. Great job writing. I also think the EQ needs a bit of mid to high brightening to bring it to life. Nothing drastic. I thought I heard some BGV in there. Brighten the mix and they will probably pop out a bit better. (1:30 ish) Sounded like a female BGV.... hard to hear it clearly. I really like the song.

cool song. especially the chorus, the verse is somewhat okay, but really pretty average, but this way the chorus stands out pretty well. nice songwriting! the voice sounds a little distorted to me, that is my only little complaint. But I like the drums and do not think they are too loud - this is Rock'n'roll. A Rock'n'roll ballad, but still Rock'n'roll!

I like the song. Great feel. I wonder if the bass could come up just a tiny bit. (That may just be my taste) Overall it sounds really good! I also stuggle with mixing, I would highly recomend ARC room correction software is your room is not properly treated. Made a huge differrence for me, imediatley upon install.

Thanks guys! You should have heard it before I 'treated' the vox for noise and sibilance. It was outta' hand!! When I get home, I'll absolutely check into this ARC. :)

Very good song man! I dont think the drums are too loud, personally id like to hear the kick more. The female BGV definitely needs to be louder, i think it would sound good. Well written song!

Mixing is a black art. I'm convinced that the guru's have signed some kind of a contract using their blood as ink. I agree on the kick, and I may HPF the vox a bit more. Or maybe a low shelf pulling it down at bit near the bottom end. However, I have no aforementioned contract signed in the red stuff so take whatever I say with some salt.

Funny Story - Those female background vox. . . totally me in falsetto :) My falsetto is fairly weak so I buried it a bit. All right, my finger is pricked and I'm bleeding out over here! Now, where do I sign :D

Mixing is so much easier with a good song, and you have a darn good song here. Play it back on as many systems as you can, and you will figure out which way to go with this. This is a lot closer than you may think. I'll be watching for this one.

This is truly a well-written tune - vocals are excellent. My only comment is that the drums are a bit too dry. Nice.

I don't know if you have worked on this yet or not, but there is something going on in the background, whether on purpose or by accident, I am not sure. I don't even know what it is , but it's like some kind of squelch noise. Other than that, I thought everything sounded pretty good through my headphones. Nice song!! Peace and blessings, John

Perhaps that's what I'm hearing too.... sounded like comb filtering on the higher freqs in a few places mostly I noticed it in the choruses.... I have had that happen when I tried to clone a vocal track rather than to do a true double track on it. So was the main vocal cloned and nudged? Just curious.

Thanks guys! I actually double tracked the vocals. I think I'm done just cloning and pasting if I can help it. I hear a swoosh in there somewhere toward the right side too. SCALPEL. . . . . I do appreciate the ears & input :)
