Thinking about adding an external hard drive, How should I set it up?

The stats on my system are in my signature.  I have been thinking about adding a bunch of 3rd party plug-ins and tools to uses but don't want to slow my system down too much so  figured I better expand it.  I assume putig the plug in folders on the external hard drive wouldn't work very good, so woud it be best to put al of my project folers/files there instead?

ADK Built DAW, W7, Sonar Platinum, Studio One Pro,Yamaha HS8's & HS8S  Presonus Studio/Live 24.4.2, A few decent mic pre's,  lots of mics, 57's,58 betas, Sm7b, LD Condensors, Small condensors, Senn 421's,  DI's,  Sans Amp, A few guitar amps etc. Guitars : Gib. Well, it probably could be argued either way.

I've never had projects or samples on an external drive during tracking.

I have however had samples and projects on two separate external drives (7200RPM)  on my laptop for mixing. Never a problem.

Don't you have room in your DAW for a third drive?

I am not sure....  I guess I'll just give ADK a call as I had them build it.  Once I figure out software I am good to to go but as far as the internal workings of a computer I am clueless, kinda like asking your average woman to just go ahead and rebuild a carberator....  forget it!

If ADK built it I'm 98% sure there is a slot available for another hard drive. I'm sure they could walk you thru installing it.
