Thinking of upgrading Rapture - is it playing nice with X1?

I've always been interested in Rapture but somehow I've never ended up being or buying at the right time or place to get a free upgrade to the full version. I've used a few patches from LE on a few tracks and generally liked it, but it's never seemed like a high enough priority. I'm pretty well supplied with other synths - all the NI stuff and a handful of others (SampleTank/Tron/Moog, Wusik, a bunch of Kontakt libraries etc) so I'm not exactly desperate for sounds but I do like complex textures and Rapture does seem to have a particular niche.

So I'm thinking of diving in while the 20% off getting is good, but I'm not sure. My question is, are people generally happy with it? Is it worth it at this point (given that you never know if they're going to throw it in with the next Producer upgrade)? And above all, is it stable and solid on X1? I seem to recall some trouble reports floating around, and I know that some people have issues with Dimension, though I seem to be OK on that level.

any constructive thoughts are appreciated!...

Thanks, that's not very helpful. I'm actually asking if it is working well, generally, with Sonar X1 at this point, since I thought I recalled earlier threads mentioning that there were some issues. It seemed relevant to me, but I'm sure if the moderators feel this is not the place for it, they can move it.

I've found that it works just fine with X1. That is, as long as I use the 64 bit version in my 64 bit system. It's actually very similar to dimension so if you've got that covered, rapture should be all good. I don't think they'll include it in the next upgrade, (although they did include the studio instruments in the X1 producer upgrade which was unforseen) but even if they did it will be a long time from now, and I really think they won't.

OK thanks, good to know. I should have been more specific though, I'm still on XP32 here... anyone else still living in the dark ages and have it working well, or not so well?

Rapture works fine for me and always has. The microhost also.

I just don't see why it should be tolerated that people put "does this souncard work with sonar" or "does this vst work with sonar" in the sonar section. I find it "not very helpful"

p.s. the cakewalk moderators don't have time to trawl through the boards moving misplaced posts. It's assumed the poster will have the initiative to place his/her post in the right place by him/her self.

Thanks for your thoughts. I apologize that this thread has cluttered up the forum, which is clearly otherwise entirely populated by relevant, thoughtful ones. You're right, it clearly should not be 'tolerated'. I am sure the moderators appreciate your efforts to keep us in line...

what moderators? You shoulkd post your songs here also and start a thread asking if lady gaga would prefer X1 to Reaper. Can you understand my POV?

Yes, I can. That doesn't force me to agree with you or appreciate your (non-)contribution to this thread. Especially that last overkill one, essentially accusing me of trollish/spammish behaviour. I'm actually a long-standing and generally helpful member of this community and I don't really feel I deserve to be tarred with that brush. Really. Not necessary.

    I've contributed. I'm a solid netizen...

    Whatever bro...

Good luck with Rapture- like I said previously, it works and works in microhost mode also.

XP32 here. Rapture has never caused any problems for me.

I have NI Komplete 5 with all its synths, but Rapture is still my goto synth instrument whenever I want to lay down some starting tracks fast. When it comes to deep wavetable softsynths, I'm a total Preset Prostitute and Rapture is a Gentle John in that departement.

FWIW I feel that this thread is well within the scope of the "upstairs" forum section, being a question of whether a Cakewalk software instrument works nice with Cakewalk SONAR X1.

thanks Sven... on all counts. I think I might just go for it - this being one of those things that falls into the category of 'I'm going to do this one way or another, may as well just cut to the chase and spare myself the agonizing over it'...

Hey Subtlearts, Rapture is probably one of the 3 best synths in the world ,and it works perfectly in Sonar.
Get it - you won't regret it.

And don't let the control freaks get you down!!

    Nicely said Plazma.
The guy's asking a perfectly reasonable and understandable question. And the question is in the heading, no one forces a viewer to open and read it.

Thanks. The Control Freak seems to be policing every thread to make sure it complies with his concept of relevance, and takes strict action against those who deviated from his norm.

Agree with Sven, on all counts!!

Rapture & Dimension have worked great for me on both 32-bit Win XP and Win 7-bit, stand alone and within X1, and the add-on sounds available from various sources are awesome!

Sounds like Paul Bunyun and Babe need to get out of the woods and hang out with people on occasion!
(And in case I don't "qualify" to comment because of my low post count - I've been a Cakewalk user since it came out on 3 1/2" diskettes! )
