Third Party Plug-ins Have Disappeared in the Browser in X2a - SOLVED
The title says it all. The non-CW VST effects plug-ins were there prior to the X2a upgrade. They do show up in the plug-in manager, so some parts of Sonar are finding them. But only CW plug-ins show up in the browser. A re-scan does not correct the problem. Anyone else seeing this? Any ideas on how to correct the problem?

Did you reset in Plugin Manager and rescan? This is an important step for X2a.

There is also a new plugin Layout called "X2 Producer Effects" which only shows Cakewalk's plugins. Right click in the FX box (one of several ways to access the Plugin Layout dialog box), select Audio FX->Plugin Layouts and select your view of choice.

The default was checked. There were only two options displayed: the default of "everything" and the "X2 Producer Effects" option, which was not checked. All the plug-ins show up when right clicking the effects bin and selecting the Effects submenu entry. As it turns out, I think I prefer this way of putting an effect into the effects bin over dragging from the browser in any case. This pretty much let's me keep the browser collapsed at all times. Still, I'm very surprised if others are not experiencing this issue as well.

dmbaer, Same results here. X1d browser shows all effects. X2a browser shows only the effects that are "in" the X2 Producer Effects folder. I guess we have to create a folder with everything in it? Seems tedious, that's why I organize every thing in sub-folders in the vstplugins folder. Tom

Step 2 from the X2a patch instructions http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013301 Additional Installation Steps Regarding VST Plug-ins: After installing the X2a update we recommend resetting and re-scanning your VST plugins. SONAR X2a has a new mechanism for handling file systems without short file name support. While this is not mandatory, re-scanning will allow SONAR to properly detect and handle this scenario where applicable. This can be done by launching SONAR and doing the following: 1. Go to Edit > Preferences > File - VST Settings 2. Click the [Reset All VST Plug-ins] button 3. When prompted with the message "This will reset configuration settings for all your VST Plug-ins to defaults... Are you sure you want to do this" click [Yes] 4. Click the [Scan VST Folders] button and wait for the scan to complete

Did the "Reset" routine. Third party plugs still not available via the Browser (not a biggie really) in X2a. HOWEVER, it also hosed my IK Classik Reverbs and SVT. This is on my Win 7x32 office system. Both IK products work fine still in X1d on this system. WT? Tom

Tom Make sure you launch Sonar with Administrator privileges before you reset & rescan - this cured my problems with IK Classic Reverb, Sampletank, & Drumagog.

By default SONAR uses a categorized plugin layout that shows the plugins that ship with SONAR. If you want to see all your other plugins, you have to pick the "all plugins" layout in the browser.

I've right clicked on lots of areas in the browser without finding any context menus. I too did the "reset/rescan" routine and have the same results as before.

In the browser, click the plugins tab, then click on "Audio Fx", then click on the little down arrow on the plugins tab.

scook In the browser, click the plugins tab, then click on "Audio Fx", then click on the little down arrow on the plugins tab. Aha! That did the trick. Now I'm seeing everything. Thanks all for your help.
