mmmm...uuuh..yeah..supposed "Adults"...remember here? Aren't PARENTS supposedly more mature than children? Great...so the teams get suspended..make the kids do less stuff..so the parents can be put into a quiet room....

    ...sigh...

It really is more disturbing than anything. I am really apprehensive of what the future holds with people thinking things are supossed to be "fair" and that somehow they are owed something. The coach would have beat our arse then my parents would have done worse. If we dont bring back discipline and responsibility we are all going to pay a high price, we are doing our children and grand chidren no favors. These same people are busy bodies who would report you if you disciplined your own kids... it is a mess and I dont see an easy way out without a breakdown (which seems to be well underway).

What worries me most is that, even though we definitely NEED to talk about it, it seems that more and more, it gives people the impression that it's normal that they react a certain way or do certain things.

Information has an advert effect on irresponsible people - it becomes an excuse instead of re-inforcing their own morality and what used to be unacceptable exceptions simply becomes a precedent (the almost systematic riots during hockey playoffs as an example). Our fascination for disturbing behaviors coupled with widespread access to "information" leaves me somewhat pessimistic. People aren't going to turn back to being more responsible on their own.

I think this is a sports or competition specific kind of behaviour when 'Adults' try to vicariously live out their own primal instincts through the sporting prowess of their children.

It's kind of male equivalent of the ugly spectre of beauty pageants where the Mothers there are seemingly grooming their daughters to be the 'little princesses' they feel they themselves ought to have been back in the day.

Having served on the committee of my local soccer club it seems the more junior the teams (from 6 years up) the more pushy the parents who all think their kid is going to be the next Pele.

It is certainly much easier chairing a meeting with regard to the First team squad than having anything to do with the youth teams, merely because of the unreasonable pushy attitudes of some of the parents while the children are usually as good as gold and just want to play the game.

Shame, but it seems the human nature surrounding 'my Johnny' when it comes to any competitive pursuit these days sadly lacks any grace or sporting like behaviour from those that ought to be setting the example.
