This is an outrage #2

Illegal immigrants allowed to receive privately funded scholarships to go to state college's and universities in California.

"At the end of the day, if we're going to continue as a powerful, equal-opportunity society, we're going to have to invest in our people," Brown, a Democrat, said at the signing ceremony in the library of a Los Angeles community college.

Hey Brown ... we're not an equal-opportunity society for criminals who are here illegally! What the hell!

Way to expand the Democratic voting base there buddy. You should be tried and hung for treason.

What's wrong with a state that has a GNP that ranks it as the 8th largest economic engine on the planet giving it's workers an opportunity to have an education?

Education benefits every one in our society.

    My gardener has a Phd.

He cuts a very good lawn.

    I have no complaints.

My wife and I are sitting on $70K of debt for her two pieces of paper hanging on the wall, so I'm all for helping people get a college education ... but if you're here illegally ... that's a different story.

It's one thing if you have a green card and are coming here specifically for an education, I completely understand that and have no problem with it. But this law is giving money to people who are here illegally.

    That's not right.

But Bub, you left out this part....

The California law is named after national legislation in Congress to give young, undocumented immigrants who have lived in the United States for at least five years a pathway to citizenship through college or military service.

I have a solution... let's just say the people are here legally and move on.

I live in a state full of invading newcomers both from foreign soil and places that give you a Yankee accent. I'm a native Floridian... and of the age where that fact makes me a rarity in a per capita analysis.

There are huge opportunities to be had while welcoming newcomers.

One can experience all the benefits, as so many do, or simply act like it shouldn't be happening.

Yes, I saw that too. That's an outrage as well. President Reagan did something similar back in the 80's and look where it got us.

    hi Bub:

    being angry at illegals is being angry at the poorest of the poor;

people, for the most part, coming to this country for economic necessity.

people, for the most part, that work hard everyday and have very little to show for it.

I hope you save some of your anger for the people that truly deserve it.

No, Bapu.  It's Biology.  See, the parenthesis lives inside the host, feeding off of the becan and robbing the host of Essential Becaniness.  Doctors go into the colon and remove the parenthesis and the patient is once again free to enjoy the full benefits of their injested becan.

    hi Bub:

    being angry at illegals is being angry at the poorest of the poor;
Never said I was angry at illegals. I'm angry at the politicians who encourage illegal activities by enticing them to come here. I know what it's like to be poor. I grew up poor, but I got myself out of it on the up and up, not by sneaking in to a foreign country illegally.
people, for the most part, coming to this country for economic necessity.
Excellent. Please do it legally not illegally.

They only "sneak" because guys with guns are trying to keep them from getting to the places where their employers are. They would rather just drive in on the highway.

Maybe Jerry the D is just messing with the pro business employers that actually enable the circumstance?

The "illegals" pay sales tax, and income tax, and the property owners that rent them houses pay property tax.

It's good business to make sure there are opportunities for the labor force to become educated.

    best regards,

I agree with you 100% Mike. But let's do it on the up and up.

Let's make it easier for people to cross the border, get a green card, go to school here, but we shouldn't be giving money to people who are here illegally.

They don't pay income tax or Social Security because most are paid under the table. And the last figure I saw, they send most of the money they make back to Mexico. Last figure I saw was roughly $10 Billion per year.

I disagree that most are paid under the table. I think most are working for wages for large businesses that are obligated to collect income tax... oh the irony.

The ones that are paid under the table are the ones that seem to benefit the business man and ultimately the American consumer the most. The people paid under the table do not exist with regards to OSHA safety regulations. So our society abuses their predicament by employing them in hazardous work places.... places a guy like Jerry B would like to see made safe... safe enough that a real life USA citizen might consider working there.

Jerry isn't going to be able to fix that situation.

For example; If we didn't have off the grid Mexicans working in slaughter houses Beef would double in price. It would then drop in sales and Iowa corn futures would drop in value.

It is a nasty tangled web of "interests" that make it possible for certain businesses to have disposable workers.

Yes, let us put a stop to that.

I contend that the majority of visiting workers... the guys building houses, the families picking crops, the people working in ware houses, the ladies that keep the hotels tidy and clean... those people are paying payroll taxes even if they are not getting representation.

    all the best,
    mike

My ancestors were illegal immigrants who came to this country without permission. They just moved in and built a home on someone else's land, from lumber cut from someone else's trees. Anyone who complained got shot.

Of course, it was the 17th century and the rules may have been a little different then.

That's an entirely different situation. Back then there was hardly nobody here because 80+% of the indigenous people had already perished for coming in to contact with diseases they had no immunity too.

    Click this link ...

... I applied for that job when it was first posted and got no response. I figured I was over qualified, but honestly who cares, even experienced copier techs don't make much money and I wasn't applying for a supervisor position.

I applied for it when I saw it was posted a second time and was re-directed to this site ...

    www.ihispano.com

Now it says the position is filled and the link to apply has been broken and I never heard a word from them.

Had to delete my second example. Let's just say the vacant managers position I was next in line for at my old job was given to someone else on a technicality and he basically ran the service department in to the ground in 9 months. Did I mention he had no experience in management or service and he was never about 40% of his sales quota? Most people get canned in sales if they don't hit 80% of their quota where I used to work.

Oh well. Looks like it's my turn to leech off the government. I gotta say, it's not so bad. I'm catching up on all my PS3 games, all my music projects, got some weed growing wild along the road I live on. Being a piece of white trash ain't so bad after all I guess. Let someone take care of me for a while ...
