This is just downright wrong!!!!!

I posted a reply to bayoubill's Country Band fred.

Dang forum software auto repeated me.

Now I can no longer reply in that fred ONLY.

Any other fred is OK and obviously I can start new freds (much to paulo's chagrin).

I'm assuming this is a result of the recent forum changes to combat our spammy voodoo friends and purveyors of kitchen nooks.

However, the only time I've ever gotten the loopty loopage is when the forum chokes on a post and I press the "Submit Post" button more than once thinking I misclicked or something. If I click it and nothing happens I learned that if I just let it be and don't click again it will hang for a while and either a) let the post through or b) throw a message stating "An Error Has Occurred". If it is the latter then the post is gone so I just Ctrl A the post, refresh (to make sure that it really did fail) and try again or if it keeps hanging then I'll toss it into notepad, go do other stuff, then try again after a while (or I reread my post and realize how stupid it is and forget about it... lulz).

Being the force of nature that you are around here though I'm assuming you are aware of all this so perhaps this is a new behavior. In which case I would be curious as to what exactly happened because that is indeed very wrong and would be very angering.

Cheers.

It was a Beepster sez. Too many hits on the send button when the DANG FORUM SOFTWARE hung up.

Well I'm glad you brought it to light because even though I've got my own little system for avoiding loopty loops (which is indeed a very annoying aspect of the forum) I'd never heard of a user getting locked out of a thread for it. I'll be sure to log it in my noodle under "Somewhat Useful Tidbits: Forum Quirks".

I have noticed a lot less spam recently though so that's good. I actually haven't even really experienced all that many errors or hangs either but obviously they are still happening. Maybe I'm not posting enough. ;-)

Poor Bapu.  Something like this could really impact his post count!
(Not that it matters, bless his heart.)

This very same thing happened to me once.

At first I thought I'd accimadentally logged out.

Then I imagined a world-wide conspiracy to band me.

Then I realised....

This forum software is still pretty awful.

That's all I got.
