This one is an original - Castles in the Sky

I composed this one about 30 years ago, as my wife and I were starting out together.

Hope you enjoy it.......

Dan - a very sweet song with a lot of melody and some awesome chord progressions. Very nice, indeed. This has a 'Simon & Garfunkel meets Dan Fogelberg' feel to it.
I find your vocals have some interesting effects - is this a flanger I hear? Very 60s. Again, I liked it a lot - I was looking forward to hear an Original from you.
I like the picture you've chosen for this song.
    Thanks, Dan.
    Heinz.

    Thanks Heinz!

Interesting you should comment on Simon, Garfunkel and Fogelburg. I aqppreciate the comparison.

No, no Flanger on the vocals....just a little reverb through my amp.

    Glad you enjoyed it!

Amazing songwriting, recording is rough but the song still comes through very well. Great all american classic songwriting. I hear the effect on the vocals also. It almost sounds like a harmony in there. Was this recorded recently?

    Dan,
Like your style man! You do have a pretty good knack for songwriting, and a voice to go with it. Did you re-record this, or is this THE original? Nice harmonies as well.

Maxprizm, lHanson, Bill - I really appreciate your listen and comments.

This was the first recording of this song. All of my originals were written years ago, when I was "young and foolish". I really need to revisit that period of my life, and get back to some serious writing.

Your comments do much to inspire me.....!!!

    Thanks so much!

That's good work, Danley. Very nice melody, good harmony. Reminds me of the old days sitting around strumming with my pals...........minus the buzz.

    So.... I found it!

Nice Song... really "classical" I'd say. Sitting down by the fire and stearing into the flames....

It comes all right out of the middle... is that right? Did you (not) double the guitar?

The vocs are very interesting: very special kind of "roomyness" ... problably there does NOT exist a word like this I guess?!? But I'm a german guy. Hope you know what I mean! How is that "room" done?

Danly, you were right on when you said you need to start writing some more stuff; you've got some awesome writing ability man. That was a beautifully written piece and the performance and melody was perfect for the lyrics. We want more!!!

Excellent song, Dan! I'm not fond of the processing on the vox, but that's just a personal preference. Your voice is really good - very steady. guitar is recorded really well also - mix is pretty good. can't wait to hear more from you!

Mountainking - I think you are referring to the reverb (slight echo). I recorded this through my amp, into a preamp. This gives it the sound I think you are describing. Thanks for the listen!

DuRod - Thank you so much for the encouragement!! Glad you enjoyed it!

Beagle - As always, appreciate your feedback. On the vox.... Too much reverb maybe????? Thanks for the listen!!!!
