Great casting.

Great mixing.

I could easily believe it was originally produced at your place and then remixed for the English version.

I watched your version first and then the casting for the English version seemed weak. Something about the sheer tonailty of the voices used for your version. Not knowing the language let me just hear the tone and it seemed to convey the mood very effectively. I am fascinated to think that it was sort of a let down to then hear the English casting. I'm not trying to criticize the English version, it was just an interesting thing to experience.

Would you believe me if I explained that I started with the "t" in kolt and then second guessed myself?

best,
mike

Hey Mike! Thanks for your kind words.

Well, there's one thing we always attempt when doing this and that is making it "better than the original". Unfortunately, that is mostly impossible but sometimes it works. It looks like, with the english version of this trailer, that they've cut in lines from the actual movie to create it while we have dubbed it from scratch. We actually have some changes in the cast for the movie. The kids and the green turtle is the same but the rest was just dragged in from the hallway. However, with rapid cuts and short lines it's easy to make this look good. The movie as well turned out really good if I may say so, casting wise. But there are parts of the dialogue that will never look good with the English moving mouths in the animation. And here's where dilemmas occur; should we make something that sounds truly Norwegian or should we use something that is slightly english in sentence structure and lingo to make it fit the picture better. And we have to make sure that no English-ish sentences are used, which only sounds bad in Norwegian. They slip through sometimes though, and it's really bad. But in the end, the kids usually doesn't complain. Reviewer and the adult audience always do.

But thanks for the compliments on this. I really appreicate it and it makes going to work a whole lot easier;)

You shouldn't have second guessed that one ha ha. I believe you. And now you'll never forget how we write "Koltbord! over here - well done!
