You know that this library originally sold for more than $3000.00 USD no more than 5 - 6 years ago, I think. I got mine on special for approx. $600.00 USD a couple of years ago. Great value for the money and more importantly, great fun.

    I've just gone for it.

This will solve my problem of getting my old Silver version to run.

Shame it needs an iLok, but that's a small price to pay.

This looks like a steal. Wonder what it is in US dollars and if this sale is found elsewhere. I do think I would go for it.

Looks like the download only version is available:

$497.00 is the sticker price at Sweetwater

EWQL Orchestra Gold is now $247 [boxed]

You certainly won't regret it, and at a great price also. The iLok (version 1) has never been an issue for me, quite the contrary. But as you know, there's many divergent opinions/experiences about it. Congrats on your new purchase.

You mean that you can purchase a license for it? Do you have the "Terapack"? If not, more info here:

Do you think I'd regret it if I got the Gold instead of the Platinum Plus? More Mic positions plus 24 bit? Is it going to be that much more awesome that I shouldn't hesitate?

I went for the Platinum plus deal.
The major part was the demo of all mics in this site.

Bring up the other two mics and pan left - right..

Yes, I can hear how the mic positions add depth and clarity to the instrumentation in such a way that it makes the music much more lively and effective. I had not heard the demo before. Thank you.

Got it home yesterday and had a 10h "fun" installation process of the DVDs.
But today it's all done and what a fabulous sound!
Even thought it's from 2008, but violins and brass haven't changed that much since 1800...

If this is your first time working with EWQL products, I'd like to bring to your attention the feature that allows you to either stream your samples from disk (default) or load'em up in memory (most efficient).

Once you've selected the instrument you want to use, pull down the "Main Menu" from the PLAY interface then select "Current Instrument". The option "Stream from Disk" which is checked by default is the one you're looking for. Also, another important consideration when using multiple instruments is to..., use a distinct instance of PLAY per instrument. Here's the official explanation as to why this is recommended:

    "EastWest"
We recommend using multiple instances of Play in your host, rather than filling one instance up with 16 instruments before moving to the next instance. The reason for this is that most Sequencer Hosts assign processing on a per-plugin basis, meaning that one plugin (regardless of how many instruments are loaded into that one plugin) generally get assigned to one processor. If you are using a multi-processor machine (such as a Quad Core) than utilizing multiple plugin instances of Play will balance the processing load more evenly among your processors, resulting in smoother performance.

    REF: Soundsonline Forums

Furthermore, when using more than 1 mic position, you're going to have to check for phase issues. I can't stress how important this is. I realize that you may already be aware of this, but I know that this info. would of been very useful to me when I started using EastWest samples a few years ago. Hope this helps.
