Thought this was funny, or ironic, or .....something
I was perusing the forums of one of the other "major players" in DAW land and found this quote, thought I'd share it here for no other reason than to maybe give everyone some perspective. This was in the "Issues" sub forum of.....well, never mind. " Because you have had so many updates that have problems, it seems to me that your foundation is not as stable as you might think. Instead of adding all these 'features', I would prefer to have a program that works smoothly. then the features could be tested on a stable foundation and shouldn't cause the types of complaints that I'm reading about. Most of us don't have the time or patience to put up with your experimenting.I'm not going to blame the programmers anymore.. This is clearly a management issue.Someone needs to fix this.." Like I said, not trying to start anything, just pointing out that ALL DAWs have issues for a certain percentage of users. As always, YMMV.

I found the thread. Seems like people with a specific config are having a specific issue with a specific function. A tech support rep dropped in to get people to send them the details so they could nail it down and fix it. Also sounds like people were doing fine until that specific patch came out (the fifth patch since release). So at least they're engaging the user base and trying to fix it. Just sayin'... and no, no DAW (or anything in this life) is perfect but it's a matter of HOW imperfect it is. X2 is great. Just seems to have minor annoyances scattered throughout it that add up to a major annoyance. Really wish they'd patch it but that seems doubtful at this point. Oh well.

Yeah Beep, he also said that the problem had been mentioned in a previous thread and that he had asked everyone with that issue to get in touch with their support and out of all the folks reporting the issue only one actually did. Seems I've heard that before, too, heh.

Well, they are, but I really feel for the folks that have major problems no matter which platform they choose. I'm sure that if I started having really deal breaking problems I'd be the same way. I'm just lucky that so far (knock on wood) my problems have been small. Of course it helps that I'm not making my living using any of these programs, just basically having fun.

Yeah, I don't have that many problems. Just the stuff that gets reported pretty much consistently and much of it seems to have been going on for years. It's not enough to make me mad or totally bail on Sonar because X2 is pretty sweet when it's behaving. Cakewalk not getting in there and fixing this stuff though... well that worries me. Saddens me to say but it's doubtful I will upgrade this cycle. Not that that really matters to anyone except myself.

Yeah, I have to admit the fact there have been no more patches for X2 seems a bit strange, and it hasn't helped that they've had a few folks leave or get transferred or whatever during all this. Still, I'd like to think that it's all coincidence and that things are still running smoothly in Cakeland. All that being said, I'm one of those that usually jumps right in whenever there's an upgrade or new version but this time I'll probably hang back a bit and see what's gonna happen with X3 or whatever it's gonna be called. I like new features and toys as much as the next guy but I do think it's time a lot of these old issues where addressed. But, who knows? They may dazzle all of us and hit this next one straight out of the park. Let's hope so.
