Thoughts on Focusrite 8i6 Interface

I've been looking into the Focusrite 8i6 audio interface on zzounds as an upgrade to the Emu 1616m, which that will be used on an XP system for vinyl and cassette transfers.

Does anyone own this and if so, how well does it perform? I read a few reviews and blogs about it but want to get some insight from those who actually own and use this interface. I have already ordered X1 Studio which is fine for my needs for the time being so I think this interface should work well with it. The only instrument I may plan to use with it is the keyboard, as I am not a guitarist and mics for vocals. I suppose I can use the soft synths in software for all the other instruments.

I don't own it but it has lots of inputs and comes with their Scarlett plugin suite. I think Beepster just got one.

I actually got the 18i6. I haven't had a chance to hook it up yet. It is a little different than the 8i6 but not much. The two standout differences would be the 18i6 has an optical connection to expand your mic pre inputs. The 8i6 (and its smaller siblings) have a "loopback" function that lets you record directly from another application (like media player or a web browser) internally without any physical connections. The 18i6 does not have that function. Once I get it all set up and tested out I'll be updating the forum as to my results. A couple of things I'll say in the meantime is a) if you find any posts squawking about the Scarlett series causing problems it was because of a driver issue which I've been told is now resolved with the most current drivers and b) Focusrite support is great and their website is pretty helpful. Cheers.
