" 'Til Then "

I'm looking for mix criticism on my latest track. It's really upbeat, sorta my version of "Dancing in the Moonlight" meets "Happy". Enjoy :]

Ok, I redid my original mix a little bit so the bass snaps a LOT closer to the drums, it helps the overall feel tremendously! I also fixed a few technical errors.
To my ears, this is pretty much the best mix I've done.
But I'm untrained. What do you guys think?

No feedback on this at all? (sorry perhaps I'm just not patient)

Well, the song is nice and the vocal work is good.  The mix sounds like a total mediocre midi thing.  There's just no depth to it.  I love the chorus on this.  "Sun is warm and bright" section.  This could be a really good tune, well, it IS a really good tune but the mix needs some TLC.  I'm not the one to tell you what to do, just that it needs to be done.  There are others here better at that.

That certainly points to my need to acquire a REAL pair of monitors... is it TOO clean of a mix?? to me this sounds awesome on all my systems, but I guess my ears really are untrained

I liked it better with the harmony. On the parts without it, it felt a little bit flat (not in pitch, but in feeling)

It feels a little dry (vocally) I would hit it with a bit of delay and verb. Not sure how you're processing it currently, but it feels a little dry to me.

But I'm a co-star on that soap series? "The edge of wetness..."

Sounds very clean and as noted by Warren lacking some edginess.

Hm. I definitely was trying out some more somewhat different techniques than I'm used to on this track.

I'm working on the mix some more- I put a big reverb on the whole thing, I think it helped relieve the sterility a little bit. I do like the less dry version a bit here- beforehand, I have a delay behind all the vocals (its probably really difficult to hear)
I attempted to strengthen the kick a bit (but it's TOUGH!), and a friend of mine told my the vocals sounded rather thin- something that seems to plague my productions often.

I'll post an updated mix possibly today or tomorrow.

I like the upbeat "attitude" of this song. It was pleasant to listen to (and I don't normally listen to this style). Good vocal performances. Personally, I like the mix of male and female vocals. I like the little things you do in the middle ("c'mon, c'mon and clap your hands, etc.). If I had any critique, it would be for a little more variation in the melody throughout (don't get me wrong, it's a good melody). Also, the production could use a more robust sound--more bass I think. (I'm no expert in how to achieve that, but I think just some EQ tweaks would do the trick).
